The 0730 455 from SHP to WAT was shorted formed too.

Why the rolls eyes? The amount of times I've been in Clapham Yard and I've never seen anyone around it.Must be a bloody small team.I have noticed the headcode seems to get changed on a regular basis.At least the number thing on the front works.When is the last time it turned a wheel? Can't be doing it much good.

A friend says it turned its wheels very recently with a 455 and a big announcement is coming soon... but this is a case of a friend heard it from a friend and so on, so the standard warning of it may be untrue applies :lol:

It did indeed couple to a 455 and main res was pumped up. Moved to check for seized axle box etc...

5X58 Wimbledon to Doncaster Wabtec scheduled for Monday 6th (didn't run Wednesday 1st), probably 8020.

Oh and the VEP is off to Ilford today.

Our 4 Vep unit No.3417 left Clapham Yard at 8.11am this morning and was hauled over to Bombardier's Ilford Depot where she will undergo the start of her restoration as she will be used by Bombardier to train apprentices. The training of engineering apprentices is something very important to the Bluebell, so this a very positive opportunity.
Bombardier have been exceptionally generous with their offer for which "we" - Bluebell and SETG - are very grateful, and will ensure this unique survivor from the 1960s will return to full operational condition.
The SETG - formed of SWT personnel have been very proactive in seeking assistance and an article will appear in the forthcoming Bluebell News, and updates will continue on a regular basis as this programme evolves.

458502 is back in service today. Currently working the 0952 Waterloo-Weybridge.

It would appear that Juniper man lives on. He was announcing this morning on 458502. Unfortunately he was announcing the train as a service from Waterloo to Farnham and not the correct service.

Had a feeling that was the case, as the 0615 Waterloo to Hounslow and 0659 return (which was my train, 533+534) was the full 10 cars today. That hasn't been the case very often recently. First time since 458/5 introduction I've used it as well.
Announcing as a Farnham service was quite a hefty error :D probably entered wrong command.

What's the seating configuration on 458502? Has remained as about 50% airline albeit converted to 2+2 or is in the ex-460 format of mainly bays?

I hope it is airline, too many people put bags on the floor in the bay seats so there is no room left for the feet of the person opposite. Requests for them to use the overhead storage usualy goes down like a lead baloon.

There was a 458/0 coupled up to a 47 and barrier wagons in Wimbledon Park depot when I went past it earlier, but I didn't get any numbers. I'm guessing this will be going up at some point in the next month

5X58 from Wimbledon E.M.U.D to Doncaster Wabtec didn't run last night, so is scheduled again for tonight. 47739 is the loco and unit should be 8020.

8502+8532 on the 1737 Waterloo to Hounslow.
Currently sat on 8502. It has the old door open alarm that the original 458s had, and auto close has been added. The seat back colour is cream rather than grey, with new padding and covers. Seats arranged as per the complete 460 conversions, and new flooring installed. Still some scuffs to the blue trim underneath the windows, and to the buttons for the inter-car doors. Auto announcements not switched on.

8534+8533 on the 1645 Waterloo to Hounslow experienced problems with the doors. At Barnes, the guard announced that doors on the 5th and 6th coaches did not open. Then when I got off at Richmond the doors on the rear unit 8533 didn't open.
Guard of 1737 announced that an earlier train only had the front 4 coaches open at Kew Bridge, so he has asked passengers to be in those coaches only for Kew Bridge just in case.

I'm glad new flooring has been installed as the old stuff was not for purpose - collected and showed far too much dirt. Also good that auto-close has been fitted. This may help the aircon to not conk out when trying to air-condition the whole of Reading (from 2017) when sat there for 32 min with all the doors wide open.

But, oh dear, surely they could have replaced the deafening door sounders. :(

Well what's wrong with either the guard pressing the door close buttons to just close the doors &/or "Joe Public" getting either their hands out of their pockets or off their backsides & using the door close button?

Cancellations and missed stations again this morning. I can only imagine 458502 is back in the sick bay.

458504, was due back at 03.57hrs this morning running as 5X58 this was then cancelled.8532 suffered two shoe burnouts in for repair.
