The Alton services, the peak Woking to Waterloo service, and the extra Reading obviously will have first class installed? Well technically the ex- SWT units still have their blue seats. But I can see a lot of unhappy passengers, especially the powerful Alton passenger group.

Given that the Reading line has had 455 's substituted on services advertised as having First class accommodation for the past couple of decades I think it's about time the Alton lot shared the experience. ;)
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
Some 458/5 diagram changes coming up in December-February, as the full fleet becomes available.
The new 1935 London Waterloo-Reading will be formed of a 5-car 458.
Most Weekend services via Hounslow will be 5-458 instead of 4-455.
Shepperton gets two 10-458 workings; 0700 Shepperton-London Waterloo and 1843 London Waterloo-Shepperton, both via Richmond.
Woking sees a Weekday morning peak 10-458; 0641 Woking-London Waterloo. Unfortunately this is a reduction from the current 12-450 formation.
Alton has some 10-458 workings in the evening, 2153 London Waterloo-Alton, 2316 Alton-Woking and 0040 Woking-Alton are all formed of 10-car 458.

Thanks for the info. What will be working the new 0623 from Reading?

Thanks for the info :). They'll be breathing a huge sigh of relief at the 458/5 conversions finishing . But now they'll probably be finding themselves trying to make the stock reliable again <D.

Isn't there a new 1805 Waterloo to Reading planned once they find a set for it, with the current 1805 Aldershot service moving to 1755? And it is extending to Farnham? (A random search on Real Time Trains for 21 December shows it as going to Farnham, but still at the old timings for now).
Current:
The 1607 Waterloo to Waterloo (via Hounslow) uses 8-455s starting from Clapham Yard which later go on the 1743 Waterloo to Shepperton (via Richmond).
The 1745 Waterloo to Waterloo (via Hounslow) uses 8-450s from Strawberry Hill Depot.
Both the 1607 and 1745 via Hounslow will become 10 car and almost certainly use the same set, which would leave a 8-450 set free for the new 1805 to Reading.

Yes, and also a new 0653 from Reading. I guess these may appear from May.

I read somewhere at work that there would be a Evening Peak service from Waterloo to Farnham VIA HOUNSLOW. Obviously no train available for that yet.

Killed off because Down services (via Surbiton) had to cross three tracks on the flat after Weybridge. If Woking Junction is considered a source of delays for Up trains where the affected Down trains have usually stopped at Woking, it would be worse for Fast Line trains getting checked from linespeed at Weybridge (though the crossing seems ro do that all on its own from time-time!).

If the Southern had ever built a "Weybridge Curve" to take services from the Weybridge direction up/under the Main Line then I could actually see the benefit of still running that mega rounder.

Can you imagine the whinging that Staines, Strawberry Hill, Wimbledon & Waterloo would be doing if they did exist? We'd never hear the end of it!

We at Waterloo never moan...... ;)

8016 and 8007 actually went into service on the 1320 Reading after a stock change as the 0950 Reading I accompanied was actually a 4 car 450! So maybe the 458 was sickly this morning. Would have much rather the 458 for one last drive before it goes!

8016+8007 0950 Waterloo - Reading

Note: A lot of GWR passengers are being diverted to Waterloo so expect the trains to be busy

I just ignore his crap comments.

It's a bit of a shame that the curve round from Up Chertsey to down Reading was taken up.The infrastructure is still there.

Looking at the diagrams next week, there is no scheduled 458 working Waterloo to Reading. So Saturday is probably the last day the two units will be in service.

I'm sorry, but you just can't grasp when someone it taking the mickey out of you, it's a tease you know. It's meant to be taken in jest. Nothing personal.

Obviously HeelBurton has got the idea it was a mickey take! :)

Only last weekend (and the coming Sunday too) engineering works at Feltham caused the Reading services to be diverted via Surbiton and Chertsey. Reversing and changing ends outside Virginia Water at the London End really must be a massive PITA for everyone. Depart Virginia Water, only to find yourself there again a few minutes later! You can see the disused bridge over Trumpsgreen Road from a train.

With that spur you could extend the Guildford-Ascot via Aldershot service back to Guildford via Chertsey <D *gets coat*

It just goes on and on and on and it's bloody tedious. It may have been funny years ago.Give it a rest.If it's not constructive then don't bloody post it.

I can use smileys also.:roll::roll::roll::roll::roll:

Off to the naughty step with sir for coming up with a sensible idea!

You should know by now that common sense/sensible ideas are oxymorons when it comes to the modern railway.

I got downloaded after doing one of those trips a few years back for an alleged fail to call at Virginia Water.Stopped at Virginia Water three times but couldn't stop the fourth time as the 458 wouldn't fit.

EDIT: That would be the Up platform at Virginia Water from Chertsey.

Has anyone got any info about that disused railway bridge? (The ex left hand curve that goes to Reading before Virginia Water from Chertsey?

Oh yeah that platform hasn't been extended and only fits 5 cars. How many does the Down Chertsey fit? I know it has been extended but the CIS can't make its mind up; since 10 car introduction it has gone from no announcement (therefore full 10), spent ages at front 5 coaches, and is now on front 8 coaches.

Was somewhat surprised to see this pair pull in at Twickenham on the return working. Couldn't board it though - properly wedged!

What was that 458/5 I saw (but couldn't catch the number of) stabled in P6 at Woking this morning (and evening)?

I'm assuming it will work the 05:27 Woking to Waterloo via Staines tomorrow morning?
