There’s some things that don’t look right. Couple and uncouple buttons yet there were no automatic couplers for the electrics or brakes. Just a Buckeye, external brake pipes and a 27 way jumper.
Passcomm override when the 442 passcomm is the standard Mk3 handle that directly vents the brake pipe.
Interesting points! Although there's also a saloon/vestibule door lock switch, which would imply that it might be a 442 after all? I wonder if somebody was contemplating some future mods?!

The AC traction project converted it to "Westcode" 3 step braking.
Westcode braking and electric passcom put in the coupling relay. Getting rid of the old passcom handles.
Not all of these were done as part of the AC traction conversion but trust me, that is from a 442.

Thanks for confirming the two cars at Wolverton still exist.Curious,as I thought all the SWR sets had a total destruction order on them.Anyone shed any light on this pair?
There's no total destruction on them from SWR.

The drumswitch and buckeye was electrically operated with switches on the driving desk. Jumpers and pipes aside, there is still a need to tell the train that it is coupled to another.
