Class377/5 is just stating the nature of the contact between GTR and the DfT

Just a fact not an opinion

Forgive me, but I see absolutely nothing wrong with the Gatwick Express decals.

What evidence is there that there is a Refusal to sort out the driver shortage. From other threads it looks more like bad management.

if you want talk about drivers ask the mods to split this thread as it in the rolling stock forum

If you want to talk about the GTR management contract, ask the mods to split it off in a separate thread.

Sticking to the corporate hymn sheet I see.
So if they said there could be a cheaper font applied, DfT would say no?
OK then...

Good design costs nothing. In fact, good design saves money.

Attacking me for being factual? I don't believe I gave my opinion.

Correct.

Is one to assume then that the refusal to sort out driver shortages is the choice of the DfT?

You realise it that it takes 18 minimum to train a driver plus time to assemble a recruitment drive. With franchises changes everything stops for awhile and the new bidder cannot act until the franchise starts. Even Southern areas drives would have to wait until a new franchise started.

RyanAir had some good ideas.....
Suggesting charging for the use of toilets!!
That was a clever way to introduce other charges without much fuss or outrage. I don't think there was ever a serious intention to bring in a charge for using toilets.

Never been on a Ryanair flight with all, or in fact any, of the toilets locked out of use.

Hi are there any set 387/2 diagrams yet or are they still working ad hoc on SN and GTR?

None for SN
3 diagrams on TL intermixed with the /1's, so can be on any /1 diagram
GX iirc only one diagram on the 17:2x service of victoria ( posted above somewhere).
Hope that helps.

There's only 1 Gatwick diagram of 2 units at the moment Monday-Friday
18:26 Victoria - Gatwick Airport
19:30 Gatwick Airport - Victoria
20:15 Victoria - Gatwick Airport
21:00 Gatwick Airport - Victoria
21:45 Victoria - Gatwick Airport
22:35 Gatwick Airport - Victoria
23:30 Victoria - Gatwick Airport
00:20 Gatwick Airport - Victoria

There are 3 on loan to Thameslink that are allocated to any 387 diagram on a daily basis

Any idea why there was a 387/1 (129? 123? I forget the number) stabled outside Bletchley TMD today? I thought all the /1s had been tested.

I can't say for sure, but I understand there is a unit going to do clearance gauging on the great western sometime this month so it could be that.

The diagram above began on 29th Feb, then there is a phased implementation as more units become available for traffic.

Is it one of the GWR ones I wonder?
The GW electrification thread suggests that their 387s are going to operate a peak hour service to Hayes & Harlington from the May timetable. If they haven't even been gauge cleared yet, is this suggestion a trifle optimistic?

I may be wrong, but if Bombardier had finished the 378/2 run, and had backlogged orders (for example the 8 extra 387/1s for GWR), then they will just keep on churning units out. They will have dates agreed for construction, testing, and handover which they would be keen to stick to. I am not privy to any information about what these dates are, or even if they have finished the 387/2 run, so can't say for certain, but it was just a thought.

I wonder how much first class provision gwr will have as currently there are interior sliding doors which seem to suggest a large first class section like on the 387/2s where the section is fully first class
I know gwr have declassified or removed first class from turbos but 387s have so much more capacity they can be more flexible with this? I wonder if they will change the seating in first class perhaps with leather seats
I suppose they will be refurbished into gwr colours... That said hardly necessary as they are still pretty much brand new trains

Not really, the gauging will have been done virtually using ClearRoute, it'll just be some tests to confirm all is OK in real life.

The GWML does benefit already from a generous loading gauge which allows the wide 23m Turbo stock to operate, and from the IEP clearance program also underway, so it's virtually certain they'll be cleared with no issues.

These may be the first /1's to recieve mods, iirc that is why the GX /2's are with thameslink to enable this modification work to be done.

All 387/1 are getting modded by Bombardier.

Gauge clearance paths starts 4th April.

All 387/1 are GWR.

Correct. The 387/2 were built with the mods.

A May start won't be too bad, they won't be kept waiting and (IIRC) ahead of schedule still.

Same can't be said for NR who now say that electrification of the lines between Maidenhead and Didcot won't be finished until December 2017, which means no 387's will be running further than Hayes & Harlington for quite a while...
