Can confirm that the last of these diagrams is 387s as I used them this morning. Didn't take the numbers. As I don't.

Even TfL have stated getting the 378s to 6 cars isn't easy due to the way they were designed.

Surely it would be easier to just build more Class 378 cab vehicles and reform them back into three car trains? Then run them in pairs all day?

I think having open gangways throughout the train is a major benefit (and no doubt makes people feel safer) so I wouldn't see any benefit in having trains paired up.

The easiest thing to do is cascade them elsewhere, trying to reform them into 3-car trains would need a lot of extra vehicles while rendering others useless while wasting space and money on a large number of unnecessary cabs.

Agreed... TfL's GOBLIN and new Liverpool St routes being the easiest to do... mind you I'm not sure that 6 carriage trains on the ELL are that practical either.. perhaps too many short platforms in the old tube section...

387's got one tonight on a fast Bedford - very fine trains - good seat pitch , tables in standard - seats line up with windows. Toasty warm.

Went from SAC to BFR today on a 377/5. The seats were firm but comfortable, not unlike the 387 last week so I can't see why there are so many complaints about the 387s' seating.

Which is indeed what I started to do on the Govia 377s as two metal hips plus cloth covered board seats equals pain after half an hour. The first 377s ordered by Connex were much better.

Then I asked myself WTF I was doing, and why should I be paying a lot of money and have to lug a cushion around just to avoid pain travelling on new trains. Cars are now far more comfortable and quicker now so it was goodbye to the trains.

Hopefully the photo uploads, I've noticed these on a few when changing ends, are they finally replacing them? Some of the door open/close buttons are these which seems odd given they have no directional arrow feel for those who are visually impaired. Perhaps they are replacements?

Not sure that's really a suitable fix. I wonder what the likes of the RNIB think about this?

Most trains are being upgraded to ensure compliance not downgraded to remove it.....

I'm not even sure this is legally acceptable as an interim fix as new trains have no grandfather rights and have to be complaint....

With the braille and signage above it, one would think they could get away without it, although then again, the profiles do help with locating the buttons. Would this be a temporary fix, so that the buttons can now be used by a majority of users who don't need the profiles whilst suitable buttons are sourced?

I think that would be the only case that would be even remotely suitable. One would hope that in future they have an overstock of the correct buttons to ensure this does not happen again.

The entire Thameslink fleet will never be run entirely with 387s.

The buttons in the photo have braille above so might be okay, but we haven't seen all the other buttons, such as for doors.
