Which services will be getting the capacity boost?
To be honest, I don't know, it was just a thought.

I know that, it was just my original question![]()
It should be the 16:53 Kings Cross to Cambridge service. (normally platform 10 or 11)Sorry to interrupt the discussion, but I was wondering if anyone knows if these are running from KGX this evening? I have tried to read pages back in the thread but if it's there I'm sorry it seems to have been buried. I passed one heading up through Stevenage a few minutes ago. Thanks.

I note that the one of the morning PBO-KGX services is now a 321 rather than a 317. Is this related?
Yes, saw it the night before last heading off to Cambridge.

What's the time that this service leaves Peterborough?
Maybe. It's a 321 that was replaced by the 387 wasn't it? So that could be used where a 317 was before.

Hopefully the are moving things around to keep the 387s off the busy services.
Presumably until they have enough 387s to start running longer trains?
Hence my remark about running longer trains. The 387s will be able to use SDO which should compensate for the reduction in seats per unit.

I was meaning the fact 387s are low capacity units.
Four car - seats
Class 317 - 270
Class 321 - 271
Class 365 - 244
Class 387 - 226
We have already seen the overcrowding on the 1653 as a result of the reduction of 44 seats. Imagine the overcrowding on services already crush loaded? I wonder if diagrams will be moved to ensure 365s cover these train as at least the standing room is better.
They can, but will they really run 12 car trains on services stopping at 8 coach platforms? I don't think so. So all we can hope is the 365s take over the busy services.
I do not see why running a 12 coach train to 8 coach platforms would be a problem. As long as the passengers in the last 4 coaches are informed that they have to move to the 8th to 1st coach cars to get off the train at the next station prior to the train stopping. This would be done in the same way that the London Overground class 378 trains do on some of their routes were they are 5 coach trains, stopping at some stations that can only allow doors for the first 4 coaches to open.
However, I have no doubt that only 8 coach trains will be run though.
387119 doing the honours this evening.
It doesn't seem like any other operator has expressed interest in the 365s since after GWR changed their plans.
Don't disagree, but the dwell times would significantly increase. Knebworth, Welwyn North, Welwyn Garden City, Hatfield all impacted. Not sure if it would foul points as well. I can't see it happening but 2x 365 isn't a bad alternative to be honest.
