It's a Renatus unit and it's suffered really minor damage. It won't be withdrawn because of that.
My point was, given the resumption of 720 deliveries and that the Renatus units have only 3-4 months left, would they not simply dump the damaged unit in a siding for a while.

PTSO or platform depending on the weather

Depends if GA feel they have got their money's worth from the Renatus units and are ready to start dumping them. Guessing nothing short of a new pantograph and back to service

I would be very surprised if they don't repair a broken window and panto when the class have 4 months left. Pantos are routine replacement items and across a fleet of trains windows are always being replaced. It's a day's work on depot, at most.

Is it not the case that it will need to be repaired in order to go off-lease, even in the event that 720 deliveries mean it isn't required in traffic?

I would imagine unit withdrawals will cease for a while so that GA can start running a few more 10 car Aventra sets and hopefully reinstate the full peak timetable from December while they're at it.

I wonder if it's like taking a hire car back. TOC Manager stands in front of a dent while ROSCO bloke walks around with a clipboard tutting.
If the dent is bigger than a £2 coin they lose their deposit on the 321 they rented :D

Some pics have emerged on Fb showing the yard at Sims Newport and it appears that 321903 and 322484 are now gone

Some extras in the morning peak from December; an additional 06:47 Clacton to LIV St, plus two additions from Southend Vic restoring an almost 10 minute service from 07:00 until 08:10, giving 16 trains per hour arriving on the GEML in the peak hour, plus some minor other alterations. Little change in the down evening peak other than the 17:30 Norwich gains a Colchester stop, meaning the 17:00 SX is the only Norwich service all day now to not stop here.

Confirming running through Camden Road with 37884 Cepheus the grim reaper doing the honours taking the final pair off 322 for scrap. R.I.P. 322s another sub class gone. 322484 and 322483 on rear.
3224 class what a Stirling service and from Scotland to the Stansted Express.
First North Western London Euston to West Yorkshire. R.I.P.
37884 Cepheus so epic with a lovely throttle sound and roar.

The final 322s are now at Newport and will be officially extinct within the next week or so me thinks!

I overheard a discussion between a GA driver and engineer yesterday that suggested the Renatus units may be retained for a year or so.
