They certainly had some in the sidings when they were new.Does anyone know if any 195s still run on the Wigan Wallgate to Leeds route, or if infact any 195s have ever run to Wigan Wallgate? Thanks.
They used to run when the service was Wigan - North Western to Leeds, typically a 3 car.Does anyone know if any 195s still run on the Wigan Wallgate to Leeds route, or if infact any 195s have ever run to Wigan Wallgate? Thanks.
195s are cleared in passenger service into Wallgate, however no further towards either Kirkby or Southport.
Definitely were still running to Dec 22 change. They were booked to work the route (I think for just for a single timetable period from Dec 21-May 22?) but there's no booked work now.

Ah that's a shame, wonder why they've made them go to Wallgate instead of North Western now though.Definitely were still running to Dec 22 change.
In the May 22-Dec 22 timetable period it was diagram 713 Ignore the fact it's the Monday only version that's the one I copied and pasted, it's identical on the other weekdays.
Searching for "195" I found that a double 195 might've ran down to Wigan on 28/7/2023, only time I'm aware of a double 195 running down my line. At the time it would've been timetabled to go into Wigan Wallgate.
It was discussed in a thread back in March, where a decent number of reasons were brought, one such is below:Ah that's a shame, wonder why they've made them go to Wallgate instead of North Western now though.
Two other reasons for the Leeds service going into Wallgate vs NW are that the Leeds service was suffering poor performance from Wigan due to a tight timetable across Station Junction to gain the Hindley line, it was regularly held for other services going into Wallgate. A financial implication is that Northern pay Avanti a station charge for services using NW, as everything from NW has to be dispatched, whereas Wallgate is self dispatch.
As someone has noted above there is also the turnaround time and timetable recovery aspects, in which having the unit run through Wallgate and sit in the down siding has helped performance - also capacity at NW isn't brilliant, especially when there's disruption somewhere else on the WCML and things get dumped at Wigan.
It's also quicker to go Via Chorley, the trains (Cumbria-Manchester Airport) fit in stops at Bolton and Chorley and are still a few minutes quicker than going non-stop via Wigan (As a few trains per day still do)Ah, those are also probably why the Manchester Airports were diverted Via Chorley instead of Via Wigan aswell, thanks.
The via wigan services stopped at Bolton anyway, no?It's also quicker to go Via Chorley, the trains (Cumbria-Manchester Airport) fit in stops at Bolton and Chorley and are still a few minutes quicker than going non-stop via Wigan (As a few trains per day still do)
