Currently on board 185115 in the new livery, working with a dynamic lines set on Scarborough to Liverpool.

I like the new livery better, but the numbers should be on the ends I agree. That star thing on the ends just looks weird.

I'm more concerned about the standards of the interior refurb, I have a feeling it'll be a cheap job, just replace everything, perhaps in slightly different colours. Really I want to see more grab rails and the tip up seats taken out of the cycle storage, but I think I'd be better off baking that idea into a pie and launching it off a catapult.

Something after the style of "Jackpot Joy" and those infernal blue balls that explode on contact...

So much for waiting until the refurbishment before doing any more... sets in the new livery becoming more commonplace.

Sets seen in the new colours:
185108*
185114
185115
185123*
185131
185139
185144

*=units with set numbers on front ends.

What's going to happen to the 185 trains leased out to Northern with regards to livery? It is rather ridiculous that FTPE liveried trains are operating another service, but will they just stay as they are until Northern finally gets their new diesel stock orders?

The units on Northern services could be any of the 51, rather than dedicated units. I can't see this changing other than perhaps once the internal refurbishment starts (possibly once the Pretendolino sets are ready) TPE may prioritise unrefurbished sets.

They've turned up on the Northern services already!

Can we assume a rapid rebranding is currently taking place then

First group normally keen to rebrand as quickly as they can so jot surprising

I forget why northern are hiring 185s as I thought they were lending 156s to tpe?

TPE were using Northern 156s for Blackpool and Barrow services after the first lot of 170s went to Chiltern. When the new franchises started those services transferred to Northern but are still operated with a mix of sprinters and 185s, so the change is which of those fleets is "borrowed".

It's also worth noting that on the second day of the new franchises, 185108 which had been at Piccadilly all day previously for the launch, was leased to Northern for a Blackpool diagrams - excellent planning there.

It's a train that can be allocated to a diagram. Fleet planning teams tend not to go in for paint/vinyl froth...

Starting to see a few more of them around now - looking smart. Bit weird with the numbers not on the frontends but assume it's to maintain a 'clean' look.

Is there a date for when the internal work starts?

Thanks for the confirmation Crossforth. Will be good to see the interiors given some attention, particularly the seating considering some are worn right down.

It'll certainly be interesting to see what happens.

You say worn out yet I still get asked by passengers "Where is standard class as I couldn't find it?" My response is "you're sat in it". "Really? This is really posh. I thought it was first class"

Yeah certainly will be interesting what they do. Haha - Classic that one - they're still in a pretty good shape but I wouldn't think of confusing the standard with first! Although, given the state of First Class on GTR, the TPE Standard would probably pass for First Class down there

I think even that is better than a Northern 142

So the following 185s have been done if I recall right?

185108*
185114
185115
185123*
185127
185131
185138
185139
185144
185150

Can confirm 185106, 185110, 185116, 185122, 185124, 185126, 185129, 185130, 185134, 185140, 185142, 185143, 185147 and 185151 are all still in old livery.
