Does anyone have any insight into why it's taking significantly longer for the 3-car units to enter service than the 2-cars...? It's been over 2 months since 175101 went down and 175114 has been at LA since mid-December.

I suspect it may be case of getting more trains into service quicker. Focusing on the 2-car units gives 3 trains for every 6 vehicles completed verse 2 trains with 3-car units.

There are no 175/1 working diagrams that require them to be out in traffic. Moot point as the majority of them are stopped anyway for ongoing maintenance post storage, exam work and waiting parts.

The only advantage I can see is they can have a four car train to practise coupling and uncoupling and working as a pair. A three car will have to be tried coupled with a two car soon.

I believe I've seen at least half of 008 at Wolverton, not Ely.
What's in a TOPS number anyway? If I recall correctly, many of the class 175 units are not in their as-built formations. If so, it's possible that half of what was once '175008' is now part of a different unit and '175008' could therefore be in two different locations at once depending on exactly how you choose to define '175008'.

175004 isn't even 175004 anymore, both of its carriages are from 175109!

The half of 175008 that was seen at Wolverton is in 175101, the other half is the fire damaged one, the good half replaced the damaged one from 101, so basically a straight swap on those two.

For the avoidance of doubt then - in my post I chose to define '175008' as the vehicles that originally comprised that set - 50708 and 59708.

The non-fire damaged vehicle from the original 175008 - 50708 - is now formed as part of 175101 and that is the vehicle at Wolverton.

Not forgetting that 175101 (with 50708) is no longer at Wolverton - it moved down to Laira on 23rd Jan this year.

Thank you. Assuming one will be added in as we approach Easter now...!

Assuming this is for 175(s) and not 156s, another Ely-Wolverton drag is currently planned for Friday:

Hopefully so as last weeks was cancelled.

Unless it’s just an entry mistake, what carriages would it be gaining or losing At Northampton?

Thanks for posting the car numbers within the units as I had forgotten how many "hybrid units" we actually had in the fleet at the end, just over a quarter.

Well it’s certainly running, are we 156 or 175s?

Strange that 175s that haven't been through Wolverton seem to be the most used.

Spare units can now be used for covering other diagrams on the mainline subject to there being available crew to work them.

RTT seems to think so (114 on 10.14 Plym - Penz). As we now know, RTT “sets the timetable” so it must be right!
It's a job for Saltash Camera which seems to have gone off line for some time. Odd they using trains that haven't been to Wolverton?

Nice to see 114 out and about again and in service at last!

I found a different live broadcast on another site to what I normally use (It's the same camera), but it didn't let me wind back to 1025hrs
