I can't remember whether in this thread it had been confirmed that these units were going to be painted green or not? Anyway, they are according to a very good source at GWR, the the current delays in delivery are down to more than expected corrosion being found underneath the units, by no means a show stopper but definitely slowing things down. Form what I gather the repaint work is separate to the internal work so there may for a time be some internally refreshed units still white before they go for re-livery.
I'm happy to be corrected on that, this came from a conversation with someone who has had some involvement in the 175 implementation.

Could even be more than one unit coupled together, if more than one unit is now ready. Have to wait and see.

Waiting with un bated breath to see how GBR pans out - chiefly because I foresee a huge turf war with DfT who will presumably have a lot of their "land" grabbed in the potential GBR structure.

Significant corrosion repairs were performed on the Class 175 fleet prior to repainting during the refurbishment programme at Alstom Widnes between 2019 and 2022. It was envisaged that the new paint coating would provide effective protection for the bodyshell for the remainder of the vehicle's lifetime.

Transport for Wales (TfW) is celebrating the completion of work to refurbish its fleet of Class 175 long-distance trains.
That is not to say that further corrosion may have appeared since the refurbishment was completed.

Though to be fair to Washwood Heath's finest (?), not many Fiestas get repainted for new owners after 25 years of use

I’ve seen comments online that the 175s can’t work on the busy Exeter - Exmouth line because of gauging issues.

They can work Exmouth-Paignton just as 158s often do but it is undesirable because of the end doors delaying loading times. The only way to make up time is by turning early at Topsham or reducing layover time at Paignton.
A HST did get as far as Topsham a few years ago but reversed there fouling the level crossing for sometime.
They are changing the stop boards on the Paignton - Exmouth for the 175s I doubt it. Anyway, while they may end up running the odd unit on the PGN-EXM due to an inevitable broken 150, like the158s they are not suitable due to the end door configuration.

But presumably the 150s will leave the GWR fleet before the 175s, so I would guess there will be some major rediagramming of the rolling stock fleet once the 175s are in traffic, and are a known commodity.
Theoretically 175s start to replace the "Castle" diagrams so reverting 80x to Intercity work, but also replacing 158s which go back to their shortformed diagrams. However, how do GWR restore the through Cardiff-Penzance services ? Or won't they until Project Churchward arrives and all MUs are replaced ?

175s are not replacing 150s or the turbos but Castles and 158s. When they have enough they could reintroduce Cardiff-Penzance services claiming a new service because we've all forgot. Cullompton and Wellington might even be open by then for them to stop at. Cardiff-Taunton extended to Exeter will give them a half hour service. Platform 2 at Exeter might finally be extended.
