It's nice to see the pace being picked up a bit, it took around a year after 003 was done for 106 to be completed

168001 is currently running a set of ECS moves from Banbury-Oxford-Princes Risborough-Banbury. Hopefully not too long until it's back in service!

168001 stood down again yesterday following an incident with a passenger door open in traffic it seems.

Had a quick look and there was a VST 5J01 path from Banbury Depot yesterday, so that would explain it, making room for the MK5 set that can't in today perhaps?

168001 is on the back of 168110 working 1H22 0745 Moor St-Marylebone.

This train is normally only a single unit, so guessing 001 may have needed moving somewhere, or has been paired up for 'Insurance'

Either way it's fortuitous as the preceding Mk3 set on 1H17 failed at Banbury and it's now carrying two trainloads!

It's on the back to move it back into service. It's fully serviceable, only paired for convenience. Once in London will moved to the correct diagram.

Any progress on 168004 if anyone knows please? I'm a bit out of the known at the moment as I haven't seen the progress at work recently.

168004 went in April, 168218 went in June, so would definitely appear so. Unless they're still ironing out the issues 001 & 003 had, which made them go back for a while.

I've noticed that tomorrow there's a path from Banbury Depot to Oxford Parkway, as a Chiltern service, but then it turns into a West Coast Railways service as 2Z68.
What's this about?
I did wonder if it will be a MK5 set but it's pathed as a 168.

My guess was cowley branch line special, to celebrate the announcement that it is funded. Confirmed in RTT.

From the Oxford Clarion article, embargo lifted at midnight:

Direct trains will run from Cowley and Littlemore to Oxford and London Marylebone, as the Government today announces £120m of funding to reopen the Cowley Branch Line to passengers.
[...]
A specially chartered VIP train will be running the length of the Cowley Branch Line today, leaving Oxford Parkway at 10.15am and arriving at the BMW works at 10.43, then returning shortly afterwards. The party will also be visiting the Ellison Institute of Technology, which welcomed its first students this week.

Could be 168004 or the 168/2 unit.
