Sorry but you can hardly blame Northern for the train being a 25 year old Rust bucket now can you?

The constant digs at Northern **** me off.

Have a go at the ROSCOS, they own the trains!

I'm quite happy to praise Northern on here for their excellent offers and attentive staff, however, it's been a fair few weeks now since this carriage self-immolated and news of its return to service has been conspicuous by its absence.

By the way, I grew up on the Southern Region, 25 years is hardly old for a train.

Im sure Northern would be more than happy to get 135 back from Scotland, they like to take their precious time with the repairs!

All it means is that they sweat the assets a little more instead leading to even more demics!

The repairs to 150135 are absolutely nothing to do with the way Northern have run the unit.

I know when the 144023 centre vehicle will be back in traffic, but no doubt the information will be used to beat Northern with so what's the point?

It's good news that it's definately coming back anyway.

Do you know when 150135 is expected back? I wondered why I have never had it in the last year for sight or haulage!;

You've got to admit that Northern are trying their very hardest to keep the fleet on the go. If 150135 has gone in for repairs it could well be down to a certain part being unavailable plus its also general wear and tear on a 20+ year old unit.

Although this is about the fire on 144023, I can confirm that 150135 made the journey from Kilmarnock to Preston on 10th July on 5Z50, freshly painted, so it should be back in service soon!

Not sure if it is coincidence or not, but 144023 was parked at Newton Heath on Saturday

Not sure why but 150135 for the past couple of weeks since it came back has been stabled up in the same place at Newton Heath, not sure if there's anything stopping it returning to service, it might have moved this week but certainly the last 2 weeks when I've been coming home on the tram I've seen it

Was it re-united with the centre car that tried to cook itself though? The driving cars have been running as a 2-car for months, out of its home depot of Neville Hill.

No, it was just parked up but away from the stock that looked to be spare. I didn't think any 144s were booked to be on Newton Heath, unless it was a failure

Now reformed as a 3 car

YUS!

Wonder if they've also repaired the leaks that were reported on here a few weeks back? Might be a while before we find out!

I can now, over a month later, confirm that 144023 is back to 3-car formation, having just caught it on the delayed 1211 from Batley to Huddersfield. Not sure how long it has been back, as I caught it from Shepley on the 9th August minus the middle car. Perhaps there were a few issues that needed rectifying. It definitely still had a slightly smoky aroma to it, anyway!

Now back as a 3 car set, although the centre coach does not sound too well and has flats, and still has signs of the fire extinguisher/ fire brigade being used on it as i dont think it has been washed yet although on one side ther are a few clean or newly repainted purple panels.
