I’m thinking of doing it in a library where there will be background noise my laptop is too slow. I’m hoping it won’t affect concentration?

I wouldn’t recommend it unless you have noise cancelling earphones. You never know if someone will come over and distract you by accident.

Could you not borrow a laptop from a friend or family member to do it?

You want to give yourself the best chance

Is there any risk a library computer might have adblocks that blocks a load of non ad- content in the browser, such as the VSE? Regarding the concentration, just bring noise cancelling earphones and you should be fine I think. Try to figure out which times the library is the least busy.

I've never done the VSE. If you're worried about how well a track pad would work on a laptop, could you borrow a mouse from someone, in case you have to move the mouse?

To give yourself the best chance you would need a mouse. You have to moved constantly between buttons depending on what is going on

I used a laptop. I think in the first test it auto selected but think I still did well overall. The last test I think went well. The train network error is paramount I think I identified a lot of them.

I’m guessing the passmark is combined for 3 tests too? So if the first 2 were pretty high and the third was high there’s a chance to get through? Also I’m guessing the “high demand” questions are prioritised or maybe they’re just part of the overall mark Idk???

Just finished my test, I think I did ok but only time will tell! I put some headphones on as my neighbours were pulling out a hedge - I think it helped drown out the noise!

Also the last one I think it is designed for you to make a lot of mistakes but the priority is the train network (the dot exercise) I think if you get most or all of them it’ll help your chances.

Because the symbols one changed too fast for you to get both right consistently especially when the number of shapes increased.

Completed the VSE yesterday. I did make around half a dozen mistakes when my concentration waned slightly. I have a funny feeling I've failed it, but I guess I'll find out soon.

How many mistakes on the last one? I think that was designed for you to make lots of errors but you had to prioritise tasks.

6 or 8 altogether, 2 or three on the last one.
I'm pretty sure I missed one of the higher priority ones on the last one tbh.

I missed way more I think I missed a lot of higher priority ones but I think I got most of the dot ones (it said that was the priority) how many of those did you get?

All of them except one on the high demand section right near the end.

So you managed to keep an eye on the dot and the shapes even though they were moving that fast and you got almost all?!

Yes, picked up all of the errors on the dot bar the last one I think.
Most of my errors came on the shapes.

Yeah so did mine. But I think they expected you to make a lot of errors…they asked you to prioritise the dot one.

Could be worse. Mate of mine also applied for the job, got invited for OPC testing, then deleted the poxy email with the invitation link.......
He's emailed and tried calling Chiltern - nothing!!! He's raging!!

Why wouldnt he just go into his deleted folder and recover the email?

If it’s outlook he’s using, I think he can log in on a desktop and there should be an option in the deleted emails to recover them.

Aye, it's Gmail sadly. They can't be recovered.
I know, I tried. He came to my gaff to use my computer, discovered he'd accidentally deleted it. I spent an hour Googling for a solution. There isn't one.

Yes he is. I told him this also, he agrees.
I don't know how many there were, but I'm pretty sure I only missed the one.
Mostly they were in the same pattern as when you did them on their own, with another one or two slung in, so far as I could see.

Has anyone heard back from their VSE yet?

Also having reviewed the Chiltern thread from their last recruitment driver earlier this year, people refer to a second questionnaire (Situational Judgement style questions) It appears people were invited to complete this before the VSE. Has anyone been sent this to complete? This is my first-ever application for a train driver so I have definitely not got one on record with Chiltern.
