Good idea to put some more local services on between Leamington and Birmingham. I wonder if they will stop at every station though?

Links are at the bottom of the page :D (they show the actual timetables).

Wembley Stad is half hourly, and the Sudbury Hill Harrow is hourly - quite good :D

It wont will it, Chiltern arent WSMR....

As for the extra local services, they are there as a lot of other services have the local stops taken out to speed them up. Their SLC means they have to run the extras.

these are only chiltern's timetable drafts though, showing the basic clockface services being introduced :D

"At Moor Street, two reinstated terminal platforms will allow for early boarding of services..."

- Does anyone know how these works are coming along? Somehow I completely forgot last time I changed in Birmingham and went Snow Hill to New Street. Doh!

About 2-3 months back I was there, it was a construction site, but I think it'll be finished on time :D

As nearly always in the timetabling process there are usually some losers in terms of service, is there any in this case (not being local myself)

They're being introduced in December 2011, once the mark 3s have been refurbished with sliding plug doors, etc (Which surely has to be starting soon if they are going to be ready in time?). Frees up a few 168s for the new Marylebone-Oxford service.

There should be some services using 67s before that, they need to release some 168s for GSM-R fitment. Last I heard was that they are intending to nick the spare WSMR set to do it.

As for Moor St, the platforms get renumbered and bays brought in on 13/14 November.

They are being refurbished. Long job I think, because they're fitting power doors etc

My view is they have consulted and printed a draft timetable, sadly lacking by most other tocs who keep them clothed in secrecy until the last moment and are only available to a few chosen ones

M

Most TOCs will consult with stakeholders but they will tend to be local authorities. I can understand that TOCs don't want feedback from every passenger as they will all want something different to suit their individual journeys.

They have applied for one LHCS service between Banbury - Marylebone in the morning peak, and a corresponding evening peak return, from December 12th 2010, not 2011. This is to allow one DMU at a time to be out of service for GSM(R) fitting.

Any other use of the LHCS set will be on an ad hoc basis.

What makes me wonder about these public consultations, is that the chop date for the Dec 2010 timetable proposals would have been last January. The track access applications for the 2010 changes were on ORR's website for industry consultation in 2009 AIUI.

So surely it's far too late to introduce yet more new alterations?

It will end up doing Moor St runs, not Banbury now.

Not surprised with that, the relevant TAA is pretty flexible...

Sure, but probably for their own purposes, and not usually because Joe Bloggs wants his favourite calls reinstated...

Could you possibly summarise the laid down timetabling milestones for us? I'm still not convinced last minute public consultation is likely to change much?

Full marks to Chiltern for opening the draft to full public consultation. I'm primarily interested in the changes at the Brum end of things, being a fairly regular visitor to Warwick.

So, a few of questions/observations:
1) I wonder if it would be possible to start the 1h55 fast service from Moor Street to Marylebone back from Snow Hill.
2) It seems a shame that Warwick will lose one of its two services to London per hour. I know the 1tp2h stopper from Moor Street to Leamington is supposed to compensate by providing a 4 minute connection at Leamington, but it seems a bit unfair for a station used by 494 000 people last year to see the number of direct off peak London services halved to 1tph.
3) I can't help thinking that the 1tp2h Moor Street to Leamington stopper is going to be pretty poorly used, except perhaps between Warwick and Leamington. It would seem more sensible to get London Midland to extend their Dorridge terminator to Leamington every two hours off peak instead.
4) The Stratford-Marylebone services seem to have a fairly erratic spacing (roughly 1tp2.5h) which also contributes to the uneven spacing of services at Warwick. I wonder if it would be possible to run a Stratford service in the alternate hour to the Moor Street-Leamington stopper, which would improve the proposed Warwick situtation greatly?

Dont forget - this is the first half of the new evergreen thing - more to come May 2011 :D

Presumably its possible to get it through the tunnel into Snow Hill, but the dwelling time may not be possible at Snow Hill

Sadly true. Chiltern seem more interested in competing for a share of the Birmingham - London market than serving all places inbetween. A fast headline time from Birmingham to London seems more important to them

It would seem more sensible to get London Midland to extend their Dorridge terminator to Leamington every two hours off peak instead

True. And one reason why I think all Moor Street services should be run by one company.

4) The Stratford-Marylebone services seem to have a fairly erratic spacing (roughly 1tp2.5h)

I thought they'd want an hourly (or at least bi-hourly) service there. Competing for the Birmingham - London and Oxford - London markets seems more important though

They want to have a unit sitting in Moor St offpeak so that shoppers are able to board at their leisure, at a terminus. It's the main reason why they are spending money reopening the platforms...

They are the markets where the money is to pay for it all.

Don't really see what is so bad about 1tph Warwick-Marylebone in comparison with other places, its far better than the 1tph (at best) to Leamington traditionally and at least the London is direct and doesn't stagger via Northampton with a ten minute rest there for example....

And NR will be causing delays by schedule conflicts with freights throughout the timetable... ;)

Consulting with local authorities tends to be down to a few faceless civil servants, many of whom don't use the train outside the big cities.
Now the tocs have to consult with rail focus, anyhow all major companies ask for feedback and why not, its the customer paying.
