There aren't many people who don't think this will happen at some stage in the next 20 years but where will electrification start and progress from?
Completely agree it also has the biggest impact on (urban) NOx levels and helping getting them below thresholdsElectric spine is dead and will only happen via infill, FOCs won't buy electric loco's until its is worth their while. You would start where you get the biggest bang for buck, I would do Stourbridge to Leamington first and possibly from the other end to High Wycombe. Then you work to fill the middle in.
I suppose that could be achieved by having part-battery part diesel. I just don't see any future even for deferred electrification, at the moment.If it happens my guess is it will coincide with the introduction of bi-modes or tri-modes with the aim of getting diesel fumes out of London Marylebone and out of Birmingham.
No chance, it was never going to be before CP7 regardless, more likely CP8.I think it will happen during the next control period engineers seem to be confident but I have mentioned this before and no one rally knows certainly it won't be happening until after the current franchise expires.
True there was also talk on the previous thread I created about Meridans replacing Clubmans which in turn replace Turbos on some services.No chance, it was never going to be before CP7 regardless, more likely CP8.
IMHO:
0) Oxford => Leamington
1) OOC => High Wycombe
2) Oxford => High Wycombe
3) Bletchley => Princes Risborough
4) Birmingham => Leamington
5) Bicester => Banbury
6) Marylebone => Aylesbury via HotH
Don't forget Haddenham & Thame Parkway - Oxford.

Oxford to Leamington wouldn't deliver anything, it doesn't allow anything to transfer to electric traction. There is also no point just doing Birmingham to Leamington, you would do it to Stourbridge as you capture the Snow Hill locals. You have also forgotten the Claydon to Bicester bit of East West if you do it with your suggestion. You would also do Leamington to Coventry, probably at the same time as you did Stourbridge to Leamington.
Isn't that a subset of 2) Oxford => High Wycombe ?
That said, isn't there a Leamington to Moor Street service? Don't know the frequency of that one
