Depends on who the government is and what their priorities are. I would be surprised if either Labour or the Tories would outright commit to keeping diesels running after 2050...
I'd be surprised if there weren't Classes 195, 196 and 197 running after 2050 to be honest, i.e. the whole commitment gets dropped. The idea is to cascade them to branch lines as mainlines get electrified or otherwise converted. They may by then be on 100% biodiesel, but they'll be there.
They may be the only remaining DMUs though.
