It is. But it is anticipated that this will not affect the work being undertaken on the 165s.I thought Wabtec was ceasing to do work?
I thought so.165001 and 003 are there for the first time currently but 015 already went last year and has gone back from a second time for some reason.
008, 011, 019 & 020 have done the same and gone back for a 2nd time.
Yep, 005.Ah, it was 165005 with the wheel flats requiring the skate move then was it?
Are GWR 165s getting tripcocks ? I guess not.Yes it is, including new tripcocks as well,
No, Gwr units dont run on the shared Metropolitian line between Harrow on the Hill and Amersham. Are GWR 165s getting tripcocks ? I guess not.

I seem to also recall tripcocks mean that yaw dampers can't be installed so limit units to 75mph. GWR turbos are all 90mph.No, Gwr units dont run on the shared Metropolitian line between Harrow on the Hill and Amersham.
One of each, maybe? 165 and 168.Sounds as though the 165s are due to start receiving GBR vinyls during maintenance. Second-hand info though, so don’t be too quick to shoot the messenger!
If it's during maintenance it'll be all of them, won't it. All that haven't already been for the maintenance anyway. One of each, maybe? 165 and 168.
I would expect it to only be a single unit - that’s what they are doing for most trains.Sounds as though the 165s are due to start receiving GBR vinyls during maintenance. Second-hand info though, so don’t be too quick to shoot the messenger
Given how long it’s been out of action and probably how much was robbed from it I would be surprised if it’s back anytime soon.Is 165003 the first unit to be undergoing refurbishment of something because once again it hasn't returned from Doncaster today, with only 005/028 coming back. It's been there for 6 weeks now!
I don't believe you can, in the middle of a 165 or 166's coaches, without requiring major reconstruction work down below. I remember someone in the know making that clear when the 3+2 layout was being complained about for GWR Cardiff Portsmouth.Would it make sense to remove the third seat on the set of 3s, so that these become 2 by 2, like most commuter trains these days, improving space etc. Newer trains which cover similar distances tend to have this arrangement and given that the 165s mostly run the shorter services, would that help?
The coolant header tanks are the issue, hence why the Chiltern examples have the 2+2 in the ends, but retained the 3+2 in the middle. A unit was trialled, 013 I believe, but it stayed just that.I don't believe you can, in the middle of a 165 or 166's coaches, without requiring major reconstruction work down below. 2+2 is possible on the turbos but not with the current seats they have. 165013 was trialled with 2+2 in the middle section many years ago.
