165001 and 003 are there for the first time currently but 015 already went last year and has gone back from a second time for some reason.
008, 011, 019 & 020 have done the same and gone back for a 2nd time.

I thought so.
It will likely be follow up work, no doubt, possibly depending on when they were in the original order (maybe they were early on in the process) or just a second round of works for something else.

I'm sure someone will be along shortly...
Thanks for the updates, though. Always good to keep track of how much stock is away at works!

It's possible that 165005 or 165017 may have taken 165003s place as the Aylesbury Christmas Tree, as 005 hasn't been out since late July, bar a reduced speed move from Wembley a few days ago, and 017 hasn't been out since 2nd August

Ah, it was 165005 with the wheel flats requiring the skate move then was it?
Yep, 005.
I did wonder if it was on skates considering how the move was supposed to take 4 hours, but it ended up only taking 2 hours, so I presumed it was just running at reduced speed and not on skates?

Edit: 165005 is back in service this morning, so can only assume its 017 that will be out long term now.

In the light of the announcement regarding the seats on Thameslink trains can we expect a similar "blowing our own trumpet" announcement from the minister following the imminent transfer of Chiltern to public ownership? No doubt they will flag up the new blue sets and refurbs to the Class 168 units but what about the Class 165 units which are in a poor state but continue to do sterling service on Oxford services.A speeding up of the refurbishment which is the subject of this thread would be the best we can hope for I guess. She could of course ask Lord Hendy to bring forward his rolling stock strategy which impacts Chiltern,GWR and others but we can but dream.

While speeding up the returbs would be great, doesn't work that way and they've not even started yet!
I've not even heard anything more about it actually happening in the first place

No new 165 heading off to Doncaster today, only 009 going back for its second round. 165003 is still there and only 165001/010 returned today.
