Funny how FB's report function makes no provision in its "reasons" list for pages like this one which attempt to encourage illegal activities.

But if they hadn't would we be talking about it now?I think Sky 'news' also need an a*se kicking for promoting this. Why do they have to do it

Judging by the utterly illiterate, intelligence-free specimens who appear to be posting on the site...
Me too![]()
How can you argue for a better service by defrauding the company? I'd say these people have the brains of an amoeba, but I suspect an amoeba would probably understand that basic concept.
Well, they say you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but I'm inclined to agree.
Mark Harrison, defending both men, said his clients had acted without thinking and said they were both extremely sorry for their actions.
Is that a defence? Is there any proof that they are capable of thinking?! Isn't this also the sort of thing that leads to people getting killed, or even killing themselves?
I know Sky have picked up on the site, but I wonder if any journos would be interested in having a go at Facebook for not making it easy for members to report this kind of activity?Funny how FB's report function makes no provision in its "reasons" list for pages like this one which attempt to encourage illegal activities.

Contacts anyone?
You'll probably find that the majority of people who use that particular site and the Facebook group are the type(s) of people who would not actually buy a ticket in the first place. I see it as a flash in the pan, and no doubt it will become old news very soon. It also doesn't help that their argument about the ticket prices is a weak one; for £4.20 (off peak) you can travel in all the Metro zones, on the Shields Ferry and the Sunderland - Newcastle line all day, which is fantastic value compared to other operators.
I've noticed an increase in the amount of tickets left at ticket machines in the past few weeks, but these have been quietly ripped up and put in the nearest bin. It is quite clear that the site is promoting illegal activity, and anyone who is stupid enough to try and get away with not buying a ticket will no doubt be looking at the £20 fine very quickly - in fact I wouldn't be surprised if the number of fines has actually risen recently, so revenue will not be affected.
live in london so i can explain how the barriers work, if 2 people try to go through 1 the alarm will sound so you need to HIT-THE-DECK, plus the wide gate for prams etc can squeeze 5 through in 1 go if your quick enough as they are delayed from closing and most of the time after 7pm the gate is left open so you can just roll through, plus you can crawl underneath the gates too quite easily. any more questions give is a inbox
Well Sky have already reported on it.
I see that in this report, the 21-year old Ben Potts Heywood is reported to have used the phrase "coz there rediculous" in reference to ticket prices.
Three words..none of them meeting the correct grammatical nuances of the English Language. I am sure that there are those under the age of 11 who could have been able to express themselves better than this 21-year old person.

And I'm sure no one will ever be monitoring the CCTV. :roll:Seemingly so. Just noticed this post too which surely shows that the site is quite clearly promoting illegal activity. Nice one, try that on SWT and the RPIs will be on you!

You may get in the system but to get away with it you have to succeed twice by trying the same stunt at the exit point. I don't think I could ever be that desperate just to save a few quid.
Oh, this fast paced world we live in ! 3 months later and the facebook page is still there. Maybe the police were busy, catching criminals or something.Sky News - Nov 7, 2012
Sharon Kelly, Director of Customer Services at DB Regio Tyne and Wear, which operates the Metro on behalf of Nexus, said: This page promotes criminal activity and as a result we expect Facebook to shut it down as they have before with similar pages...........
Northumbria Police say they are aware of the Facebook page and are working with Nexus to see what action can be taken.
By high profile campaigns such as writing to their local ombudsman, spraying a derelict bus shelter in Yorkshire and holding a barn dance, these issues reach a wider audience.
