Many thanks to both, however despite your opinions and I must note here I have already had trouble with London Midland before I have received contrary advice from a someone at Watford Junction ticket office. Right, ill briefly summarise the story of the ticket so far. I originally bought a First advance ticket from London Kings Cross to Aberdeen to travel on 13th September, I then discovered that I needed to change this date to the 2nd of September. I went to Kings Langley ticket office where I bought the original ticket (using vouchers) and the travel advisor there said his system would not let him. I then emailed London Midland who advised, incorrectly, that it wasn't possible to change an advance ticket and that I would have to buy a new one. After advice from this forum, I went to London Euston and had no trouble changing the ticket from the 13th September to the 2nd September. Now, I have found out that I need to change the ticket again to travel on the 14th September, and after going to Watford Junction station (where I was advised to go by the person at Kings Langley) I was told by the lady there that I would be unable to move my ticket backwards in terms of date (2nd-14th). She said that once you have move a ticket in one direction in terms of date you cant change it in another direction, which I myself have never heard of before and that I can find no mention of this on any website that I know of. She advised me that I could try writing off (to London Midland?) saying I was 'sick' and whilst the reasons for the change are actually down to my Mother having to have an operation, I can't see this tactic working since the change of date is nothing to do with the train company. I would like to clarify a couple of things, firstly is what she told me correct, can you not change an advance ticket in a different direction of date (if that makes sense) and if she isnt, should I head to London Euston tomorrow to change the ticket, where I managed to change the ticket the first time?, and finally if she is correct, would my tactic of writing to the company be successful (I highly doubt it personally).
