Almost certainly not. I doubt they have time to allocate to everyone who might want to ring up the prosecutor ahead of their case to plead with them again to drop it.

TfL do not settle out of court and will either proseucte you or dispose of the case with a written warning and nothing to pay. Of course you have nothing to lose by asking the prosecutor but I do not think we have seen anyone whose case has reached this stage suddenly let off with a warning.

Yes, you will be convicted on the day if you plead guilty and the sentence will be handed down that day. Some other posters will know the exact admin with the court clerk better than I do.

Basically, yes. There are a few exemptions where organisations are allowed to ask if you have any spent convictions but where they have the right to ask this will be explained clearly.

Also, note that because this is UK law, being spent only applies in the UK. So it doesn't apply to things like visa applications to go abroad: this could be a problem with the USA (no one has ever managed to get a straight answer about whether railway ticketing convictions should be declared for the visa waiver scheme) but realistically a railway ticketing conviction is unlikely to lead to a visa being refused even if you have to go through the full application process at the embassy.

Hello can someone help me with my situation,

Last saturday, I was stopped by the railway police at liverpool station using my son's zip card.

Just a backround we re new here in the uk 1 year to be exact and dont have enough knowledge on the rules and regulation, my friend help us in getting this zip card of my son, they also said we can use this because we are family and that they are also using theirs sons card for months.

We have been using this card for 2 mos. Sometimes just me alone sometimes with my son. The officer who stopped me get my address, name and birthday and was told that I will receive a letter from tfl also confiscated my son's card. No other paper was given to me on the spot.
He just ask where im coming and where i am going.

I was really scared of this situation. We know i am at fault for not have to know the terms and condition of the card.

Btw i am on dependent visa my husband is a skilled worker visa.

Any chances that they will give me penalty instead of procecution?

74 cases listed at Lavender Hill MC tomorrow, around half being TfL. Mixture of buses and trains. You have an all-female bench. Make sure you let court staff know early doors that you're present and waiting, they will try to get cases called-on early if they know you're there. I'd say if 15 out of the 74 show up that will be a lot.

Yes, no point being any more than an hour early. Especially not if you're on at 10, the court building won't be open.

I am so lost. I will summarize my questions.

The court gave me amount of fine to be paid. Thats all, they didnt say anything after that

They did tell that i will receive a letter via post.

They didnt give me any papers stating that the case is close.

They said I can pay fine via telephone.

Do i need some paper or proof stationg that i paid the fine?

No. You pay the fine and the sentence is therefore concluded. You don’t get a letter saying “the case is over”, because it already is. You were convicted today.

Your conviction will be spent after one year from the date of conviction (that is, today), provided you pay the fine and by doing so complete the sentence the court gave you.

Just as you were told, you'll get a letter in the post with instructions on how to pay the fine. Usually you'll be able to pay over the phone with a debit card, online, or in cash at a convenience store with "paypoint".

Once you've paid the full amount, the case is closed. There won't be any more "papers".

Remember to declare your criminal conviction when you renew any insurance you have over the next year.
