The originally proposed track layout. Not much has changed during construction except for more operational interest I have added crossovers between the two closest mainlines.

Construction Progress:

Part of my desire with this layout was that when in transit it could fit in my car without having to put the rear seats down to get it in.

The end plates are used to box up the two main boards for transit, usually the layout will operate without them in place.

Finishing off the trackwork

being new to DCC, I setup some very basic wiring to test out how the whole thing works and get the track smooth for trains to run over.

Hiya,

Latest on the woodwork side of things. Tonight the layout stood on its own two feet...well actually 6 of them. Things were concerning at first as in testing the legs hadnt proved that stable, but once the whole structure was up it was very sturdy indeed.

With the main backscene boards also now installed, once the setup is broken down it boxes very neatly together. The extra 6" x 4' strip is the as yet unstarted fiddle yard that will hang off the back of the of the main boards.

Finally an image of the wiring being completed. Replacing the test setup from before with better routing and cable ties.

Been a few months and progress hasnt been great, but here is a look at what ive done in the mean time.
