I was trying to figure out where there is classic IC service in Germany. I know Amsterdam to Paris is one.

Try vagonweb.cz and find the DB listing for IC services. You will have to filter out the double-deck IC2 sets as they run as IC services. Classic IC are shortly to be extinct aren't they? A huge change since I first went to Germany in 2016 when Köln had a few ICs per hour. I'm correct on my understanding the routes haven't gone, just been turned to ICE services? As intercity opportunities down the Rhine Valley are massively reduced from what I remember.

I was in Cologne recently and did not see any Classic IC.

Much will go, or move around, whenever Talgo manage to deliver ICE-L coaches (let alone the locomotives). Still supposedly mid-2025?

The plan was first Berlin-Amsterdam ECs then Köln-Stuttgart(-Oberstdorf), currently 2-hourly Dresden-Köln-Stuttgart IC 2s (DB Fern loves banana-shaped routes). Those stop at Köln Messe/Deutz low level platforms which is why you may not notice them, though the Leipzig ICs are from Köln Hbf.

Subsequently the classic IC Sylt services to Köln/Berlin/etc would become ICE L.

Talgo's current performance making, delivering and getting trains accepted in Spain (let alone France) suggests mid-2025 may not happen.

Great website. I did see a IC 2 set at Wuppertal.

Next trip I will seen out the ICE 1s and ICE 2s. I travelled on a ICE 4 set.

Yes, I was surprised there was no catering on IC1 set I was , there may of been a static trolley.

I'm awful with that website, good feature I didn't know about thank you. Interesting to seem some short interesting ICs away from the major hubs still with 101s.

It does take a bit of getting used to, but worth doing. First tip would be to change the language to English!

There's still a handful on the Mühldorf line from München Hbf, I think, plus they work the München to Hof RE service forward from Regensburg - it's electric hauled between München and Regensburg (DB 111 or 146).

Yes, I was surprised there was no catering on IC1 set I was , there may of been a static trolley.

There was a snackpoint in the Amsterdam - Berlin services, selling cold snacks, drinks and coffee/tea, but those have been closed as of the new timetable.

Interesting, will keep that in mind for a future trip. I was lucky in 2015 to ride of one the old S Bahn stock.

The Woltersdorf T57 Gothawagens have had somewhat of a reprieve (having been expected to be stood down in the Summer) but replacement by the new Moderus Gamma cars, initially on the peak time 'Ersatz' runs, starts early next year.

Similarly, the last operable Düwag GT6 in nearby Shöneiche, also running generally only on the afternoon 'Ersatz' is to be stood down imminently. This has already had somewhat of a reprieve and is formed of two halves of different vehicles, following various mishaps.

Then when you select a station and click on a specific train, you should get something like the below. In this case it is an Amsterdam to Berlin Ost train and it shows the loco number (NS Vectron 6193 263) and stock formation.

Edit: the Madrid-Almeria Intercity still appears to be loco-hauled Talgo. For how much longer?

There is now also an Alvia Madrid-Granada-Almeria, the long way round via the LAV has a similar journey time to the direct route. My guess is the Intercity would become a Media Distancia as far as Linares-Baeza connecting with the Jaen services.

Is that the last loco-hauled to/from Madrid now that Algeciras and the second Extremadura have become Alvia?

The current situation seems to be that SBB wants to break the journey at Basel. Not surprising considering DB 's performance.
A Giruno would most likely get the ECE catergory within Germany.

There were rumours in the Italian railway press last year that the BTR 412 units were destined for the Roma/Napoli - Palermo/Siracusa daytime services - using battery power to shunt on and off the train ferries - but as far as I know this has yet to be confirmed.
