ticket 58312 printed twice?

Also issued with discount, not as YP, therefore no Railcard required?
And both tickets marked Terminals, reservations issued as Euston, although I assume this relates to the service it's applied to.

No.

I assume two tickets were brought together in the LM sale (they are both 25% discounted) - one of which with Y-P railcard discount.

Nothing wrong with it stating Terminals on the ticket and Euston on the reservation either.

I agree, one of the tickets appears to have printed twice.

But I guess it's not that, as that would be too easy (and wouldn't really be a problem).

Are there meant to be 3 tickets? If so one of the reservations is missing and 2 of the tickets have the same number.

That's normal.

That's perfectly normal I've never come across and advance ticket for travel to/from London that isn't marked London Terminals.

Actually, one of the tickets was supposed to be without Y-P discount, as the person it was booked for doesn't have a railcard. And the reservation normally specifies the London Terminal to be used so that's ok...

...but yes, why has one ticket printed twice, on two seperate printers (one printer you can see had faded lines all over it, but the other is clear)? Shame it's an advance ;)

Edit: re Yorkie's post, there are only supposed to be 2 tickets...

Many TVMs have two printers in them in order to print quicker. Some are set up with different fonts to each other. Usually one printer prints tickets and the other reservations and receipts, which is why they don't always land in the order you expected them to if you have some tickets with reservations and others without, but they don't always get this right.

Perhaps they're smart and will re-print a ticket if it thinks its unreadable.

Which is what I don't understand -- there was no pause, they all came out together quite quickly and the reprinted one is no worse than the rest!

The ticket was issued by an AtoS Fast machine (40-4468) at Clapham High Street (NLC 4029) window 81.

Looking at the tickets, there are differences on the strength of the print between coupons which suggests two printers.

My guess is that the printers were working in parallel with one issuing the two travel tickets whilst the other was printing the reservations, but that when the second travel ticket (58312) was printed, this was not detected, so the TIS redirected the print message to the other printer. Hence both printers printed the same coupon.

That's a much better system than here in SWTland...

(Return ticket + card receipt + normal receipt ;)... even four things printed takes ages, I've had much more complex, takes forever ;))

I've printed 60 Advance tickets plus 60 seat reservations on the SWT-style machines before from one CTR code. It took a looooong time :)

To do that however would be a breach of policy and a misuse of position to access confidential data, DPA breach?

I am very security conscious!! I was mereley pointing this out on a public forum. That anyone could use this number to access info or try and get a refund quoting the number. I would NOT do this myself as you say Data Protection etc! Perhaps in future this should be censored! ;)

True, alas:

My name is to the top left of this post - not exactly secret
The tickets are in my hand right now - so I doubt anyone could get a refund especially as they're advance tickets
If it is possible to type in the reference into a system to get my address and details, that's probably illegal and I'm always at work or on a train, so good luck with that unless you're posting me money :D

Indeed, that is the ex-Southern one.

Anyone interested would note that the two new London Overground machines were very slow and would not connect to the TOD database to retrieve the tickets. The ex-Southern one (window 81, as you state) has modified graphics to look like a LO machine but still retains the 'Tickets from another station' button - handy :D (it also still says "Welcome to Southern Fast Clapham High Street" on the card reader display when idle).

I'm just trying to help you out buddy!! Stop any rogues who look on this forum, who might try and use the reference number to get your details!! it is against Data Protection etc... ;)

Of course, but they may sign up to be a member first!:p

They would need to know what the attachment was about, and then know that this number was shown on the ticket. And that's before you even think about getting access to the system.

I can't fault you for being security conscious though!:)

My Dad always shreds envelopes with names and addresses on, but I think if the envelope just has a name on it, we will bin it.

I shred also, just think if they got one of your bin bags outside your house, they then would know your name, then they've got the address. Then it escalates to giving false info to whoever- Police, ticket inspectors, loan companies etc.

It does happen!!

So do you recommend that even if it only has a name on it and no address, it is shredded?

Could do just the same with a ticket picked up off the floor or out of a bin.

Could do I suppose!

Before now a colleague found a ticket that a customer had lost. It was for the next day. He managed to get it back to her from looking on the system with the ref number. Customer was extremely grateful!
