They are indeed...or 140 km/h to be precise. Just testing your alertness!Class 92s are 140km/h max speed (~87mph), are they not?

The Royal Scotsman, 1Z82 1915 Boat Of Garten Gbrf to Dundee, has not reported at Kingussie.1M16 still at INV 2150
Dalwhinnie Signaller reports, mains power failure affecting signalling at Dalwhinnie area of control. Unable to run to or from Blair Atholl and Kingussie.
Signalling needs electricity...Scotrail journey check rports the dealys as casued by a failure of the electricity supply, which is odd as there is no electricity supply north of Stirling. I assume it's a signalling issue
Mains electricity sounds like loss of power to the signal box.Scotrail journey check rports the dealys as casued by a failure of the electricity supply, which is odd as there is no electricity supply north of Stirling. I assume it's a signalling issue
Looks like the northbound lowlander expired somewhere between Crewe and Warrington last night.
Just what I thought.Mains electricity sounds like loss of power to the signal box.
Returning past Polmadie this evening, it looked like the (presumably) demic loco was 92 018. However my eyesight isn't as good as it used to be!Just passed Polmadie depot on a Glasgow-Lanark service and noticed a (demic?) class 92, in CS livery with pan down, stabled in the dead-end sidings alongside the heavy repair workshop. Unfortunately I was unable to positively ID it. Meanwhile 92 038 - also in CS livery - was stabled wth pan up alongside the cleaning and servicing shed, having presumably worked last night's Lowlander from Euston....or its ECS from Glasgow Central.
I priced the Sleeper for a regular trip to Aberdeen, booking 3 months out. £290 for a Club, £210 for a Classic. Or I can pay BA £80, another £80 for one of the airport hotels, save either £50 or £130 and have a decent nights sleep too. It's not a serious mode of transport for most people travelling on business.

The 92 that failed yesterday was 18. The one that you "spotted" the other day was 6, which is at Polmadie for ongoing testing with coaches.Returning past Polmadie this evening, it looked like the (presumably) demic loco was 92 018. However my eyesight isn't as good as it used to be!![]()
It looks like the mains power failure mentioned above is still affecting the Highland main line.I'm on the northbound Highlander and received this text message. Except I am going to Inverness.
....
We have now arranged ticket acceptance with ScotRail from Edinburgh. Your onward journey will be:
Edinburgh to Aberdeen - 05:30, arriving Aberdeen 08:12
Aberdeen to Inverness - 08:23, arriving Inverness 10:25
While it is unusual for the Aberdeen portion to be 66+73 it isn't unknown. It only happens at times of low class 73 availability though, as a single 73 is very capable of working the short Aberdeen portion. The Aberdeen portion looks to have arrived early but with 66762 coupled up in front of 73971. I've seen two 73s in tandem on occasion but I think that's first time I've seen it arriving with a class 66 up front.
Yes, the northbound Inverness portion went to Polmadie this morning from Edinburgh, but there doesn't seem to be a path to get it down to London for the northbound lowland sleeper today. The inverness portion from last night is still in platform 2 hasn't moved all night so there will definitely be some coach balancing needing done
They currently do not. I suspect that they'll probably update policy to allow flights long haul, either when we start going long distance, or when some Smart Alec inevitably uses the policy to try and get a trip on the QM2...Out of interest, do they ever send you long haul? Because in many cases an alternative technically exists (or did before the Russians decided that civilised society wasn't for them), but will often take at least a week.
Southampton to New York on the QM2 (albiet more polluting than the flight). Europe to Beijing could be done by train in the past, it won't be so easy to get a Russian visa now. From China there are ferries on towards South Korea and Japan.

I am slightly surprised that the Edinburgh rather than Glasgow portion is the one cancelled, especially during Fringe season though I appreciate that the single accessible (i.e. Edinburgh) portion is the one missing and therefore some changes would have been required had the 2 accessible portion been reallocated to Edinburgh.London to Edinburgh confirmed to be cancelled tonight because of the problems on the Highland Line last night.
The Fringe doesn't actually start until Friday, although that just nudges the city from rammed to gridlocked!I am slightly surprised that the Edinburgh rather than Glasgow portion is the one cancelled, especially during Fringe season...
I assume it will start from Edinburgh, with connections advised from the north. The stock has gone to Polmadie depot, presumably after acting as a static hotel at Edinburgh. There are no paths to get stock north from there. This is all very concerning. Is it looking likely that the Highlander back to London will be cancelled this evening? I'm meant to be travelling from Aberdeen tonight to get a Eurostar from London in the afternoon tomorrow. No communication from them yet.

If this was the case, even if every room in the 4 sleeper carriages was only single occupied (unlikely) that would be at least 36 people in the club car with only around 30 seats so would not be a pleasant journey for around a 5 hour journey.Slightly surprised that the Fort William day coaches ran this morning: presumably berthpassengersguests from that portion were/will be in the lounge from/to Edinburgh.
That's good to know, thankyou. I assume that they'll recommend the Scotrail HST that leaves Aberdeen half an hour before, or at least allow that to be used. No email update from them yet though.A 5M16 plan has appeared to run Polmadie to Edinburgh this evening, arriving 2356 therefore I suspect @JonathanH is right in that Inverness and Aberdeen portionpassengersguests will be given the opportunity to travel to Edinburgh with ScotRail

If every room was double occupied there could be up to 72 passengers to accommodate so may not even all fit in the club car.
