I was on the Lowlander to Glasgow last night.
I was able to board 65 minutes before departure.
Checked in with pleasant staff at Euston
Fast asleep long before departure.
Slept very well for the night.
Train arrived 8 minutes early.

So disappointed. I was looking forward to terrible customer service, a night with barely any sleep, and getting delay repay by not getting to Glasgow till midday.

Quite irritating that I can't book Edinburgh to Dalmuir on the CS website. If you put Edinburgh in as the origin, it only lets you select Watford and London as destinations. Otherwise I'd have booked the cycle space at the time of buying the tickets.

The lowland Sleeper is cancelled tonight due to the landslip and derailment at Shap.
They're letting people stay on the train in Euston overnight, then have ticket acceptable with Lumo only.
No LNER or anybody else.
Very unfortunate timing, and LNER are somewhat busy and distracted to say the least, but

Presumably they have an agreement with Lumo for the carriage of larger luggage in excess of what Lumo normally permit?

I can see the sense in that, though. The early London-Scotland Lumo service is the first arrival in Scotland from London and is likely to be fairly quiet as it's against the main flow and early.

would need an earlier departure from Glasgow so would need Platform 10 sooner, hard to organise that at short notice
same with arrival on Platform 1 ableit that depends on if AWC will be running anything

It takes a lot of resource to staff this train, maybe at short notice they can only staff the Highlander?
Plus as others mention platform availability for earlier departure.

Why not have the lowlander depart from Platform 1 or 2 instead? Its unlikely they'll be occupied given the disruption.

They will have the staff trained on it as ECML diversions are a regular planned occurance for them.

I know it's early. But anyone travelling to Glasgow needing to arrive before midday is likely to head for it surely.

It would appear that the southbound Lowlander portions are heading to their pick up points, with the Glasgow portion pathed to run to Edinburgh. Presumably they will provide accommodation here for passengers to then carry on their journey tomorrow morning.

Northbound or southbound?

As far as I can see -

The southbound Highlander arrived in Euston 33 mins late.

The Northbound Aberdeen and Inverness portions both arrived early.

The Northbound Fort William portion has still to arrive, is running on an amended schedule due to weather-related speed restrictions and has been adjusted to arrive at 1100, but is currently about 25 late.

I was thinking Southbound. The National Rail site still just says delayed, maybe just confused by the route change ? The main Caledonian website just says cancelled on the Highlander Southbounds for last night.

RealTimeTrains shows the southbound Highlander having arrived in Euston at 0905.
It also shows two planned Sleeper trains from Inverness to Euston as being cancelled, presumably due to the retimimg and routing. Presumably this is what confused various industry systems, as you note.
