^^yeah I don't think it should have its own unique brand, just a sub-brand, still inexcribely linked, and having the image of the Saltire mark and livery etc, but with a little diffrentiation just to say, you know that this is not just your normal train, its something special. The First Group Sleeper wording (ON BARBIE) was Copperplate Gothic Light, however on my mock up I have used the old NX ScotRail logo which SR uses on its internal literature. Placing the X in the middle, I decided as the main focus of the new SR identity is based on the saltire, and by placing it in the middle it makes prominence, however retaining the existing ScotRail bright blue spots and silver doors. Remember the sleeper stock used to have the old SR logo in the middle?
No doubt ScotRail already have a new livery planned so it will be intereting to see what they come up with.
Personally I cant ever see ScotRail giving the sleeper its own seperate identity/logo as the main focus now is on continuity throughout the rail network in Scotland, including the sleepers.
On the topic of fonts, ScotRail used Sans Book on ALL wording in sleeper leaflets (bar headings) and the Sleeper logo is displayed at the bottom, as below:
![]()
the sleeper stock currenly has the copperplate type-logo in the middle of each carriage with lines radiating out from either side and the First ScotRail logo on one and the First logo on the other, I think.
I wish I had my memory card, as that has pics of some of the material, toiletry bag and food packaging, but yeah I was really surprised how well the onboard leaflets and print material was produced. I mean its obviously during a time of change so, its a bit of patchwork with some First ScotRail bits and some new ScotRail bits, but the new interim ScotRail bits had a real classy appearance, and with clever graphic design touches, like the leaflet made like a bed...
...if you're referring to my logo, then thanks a lot! tbh I'd totall be honoured, if ScotRail took it on, in fact that's an understatement I'd be over the moon!!! I'd let them have it for free... but It's not likely to happen.I love that logo!!! Would you be able to sell it to Scotrail?
I am very intrigued though to see what they come up with for the sleeper. I dunno if RedPath, the design company would be involved or not, at this stage, but I think we're gonna be up for a wait probs...
