You didn't happen to see the actual Highlander loco did you - it was a CS liveried 92. The smart money is on 92014 but it could be 92018?
92014 on the Highlander, just passed it at Watford

90016 should be on the southbound Highlander, given that it was stabled at Waverley today.

I’m panning a 7 day 1st class ALR sometime Jan-March, and with the new Mk5 stock due in service, thought might try get ride on it if reasonably possible, so what is the introduction likely to look like? How likely is one to actually be on new stock? And how come its entering service service so quickly having not been running on test over Here months already? Know it being tested at Velim but is that enough to not need months of acceptance testing here?

Agan, no chance!

Likely to be the 90, although there's a chance it gets switched with 92033 that took the Carstairs/Edinburgh portion stock out to Waverley earlier (5C11).

92010 is on the Up Lowlander (1M11) to complete the picture for the A/C locos tonight (with 92014 on 1S25 Down Highlander and 92043 on 1S26 Down Lowlander).

Couple of STP paths in for the Inverness stock during the Christmas shutdown.

5Z25 11:00 Inverness to Polmadie on 23/12/2017: http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/K97154/2017/12/23/advanced

5Z16 10:36 Polmadie to Inverness on 27/12/2017: http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/K97203/2017/12/27/advanced

There's another 5Z16 path in for the 2nd of January (http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/K97157/2018/01/02/advanced), no southbound so this one may run instead of the path on the 27th of December.

Same stock move happened last year, topped by 73968 & 66743: https://flic.kr/p/QwbC56 (not my pic).

47749 on 5M11, with 92043 on the rear for 1M11. 92014 stabled at Waverley for 1M16 later.

I noticed a 90 parked up in Willesden depot with its lights on, buffered up to cold 87002. Anything to do with the sleeper? It was in FL livery. I forgot the number as shortly afterwards, my bakerloo train did an emergency stop (they have bloody good brakes even from 40mph!)

Did it have any silver that'd identify it?

90016 is away with 1S25 and is in the simple FL livery. 90049 is in Powerhaul livery.

I think it may well have been 016. It was dark so didn't notice anything on the livery other than being FL.

Most likely 90016 - especially if it was at the South end - as that ran in from Willesden to attach to the back of the Highlander stock.
90049 is the Lowlander ECS loco tonight so will have headed down to Wembley a bit earlier (if not already there).

Thanks, I suspect it was 016.

Info from a very reliable source:

90016 will take 1S25 to Crewe tonight, where it'll detach and 90042 will take the train forward. 67007 planned to take 1S25 North of Edinburgh (and bring 1M16 south to Edinburgh)

67007 then planned to bring the Inverness stock to Polmadie tomorrow, as per my post yesterday (post #5719) with it returning North on Wednesday.

Services on Wednesday night and into Thursday morning are running via the ECML.

All of this subject to the usual caveats.

47 749 will be on a coach move in Edinburgh tonight. There should be a path for a 5Z01? on RTT.

Proof of the (pre-Christmas) pudding is in the seeing this time! 67007 up front today on 5Z25 Inverness to Polmadie captured on approach to Blair Atholl. Thanks for advance notice of this one Scott - gave me a chance to rearrange Christmas shopping venues to be in the right place!

No problem:)

Went for it too. Initially tried Larbert but the new masts scuppered that, so went to Perth instead.

Using the sleeper for the first time in about 10 years... What's the story with lounge access at Glasgow? I thought we were supposed to have it? But it wasn't even open, and even if it had been the sign says it closes at 2130, which wouldn't be any use.

I'm disappointed; it's not more civilised than flying if you're just sitting in a freezing cold station!

I believe first class passengers on the sleeper are entitled to use the lounge 2 hours before boarding (8pm to 10pm), thats what I have always done when travelling from Glasgow/London anyway.

There appear to have been some issues last night with both northbound and southbound highlanders. The southbound departed Edinburgh 107L (all portions arrived at Edinburgh on time) and is now 72L having left Doncaster. The northbound was delayed in the Berwick area and all portions are now in the region of 80-90L. CS have tweeted that this was due to "a technical fault".

Edit: reported elsewhere that this was due to a coach fault on the southbound which had an impact on the northbound due to crew changeover at Berwick.

Crew crossovers were done last night at Berwick for the Highlander and Northallerton for the Lowlander services. This is to keep crews in the correct position as it should be a Scottish crew working Northbound on a Wednesday and a English crew working Southbound. There will be no crossover next week as the service resumes on Tuesday the 2nd of January meaning crews are in the correct position at the start of service.

That would explain why I saw a sleeper set at Euston at midday today

The heating on my carriage of the Southbound lowlander was also broken. It wasn't good night to be travelling by sleeper :(

It's a shame as it ought to be the best way of travelling; but I stopped using it years ago because there was always *something* :(

Just seen this ...on another thread ...OHL down between Morcambe jn and Carnforth. and from Virgins site......
Due to damage to the overhead electric wires between Oxenholme Lake District and Lancaster some South-bound lines are blocked.

1S25 is now sat at Preston, full line block in place for repairs to the overhead line on the Up line at Bolton-le-Sands/Hest Bank.

1S26 still a bit away, not hit Crewe yet.

1M11 at Carlisle, looks like it may be getting held there but not 100% sure.

1M16 left Edinburgh about 15 minutes late.

EDIT re 1M11: Spoke too soon, now away from Carlisle.

I’m on 1S26, fingers crossed the block is up by the time I get to Preston, but I’m not getting hopes up, think going back to sleep is the best option!

So the damage as it stands at 10.00 this morning:

Northbound:
1S25 worst affected with all three north of Edinburgh portions in the region of 4 hours late i.e. Lunchtime arrivals at destination.
1S26 terminated Glasgow 117L and Edinburgh 108L

Southbound:
1M11 worst affected arrived Euston 132L
1M16 arrived Euston 103L

Not a good night.
