So in summary for Sarah, filming/photographing the Highlander shunts in the middle of the night at Waverley is somewhat challenging.

Perhaps an alternative (albeit less action/interesting) is the Lowlander Carstairs-Edinburgh portion in the morning? It's at a time the station is open (and a more sociable hour) and you'd have the loco bringing it in (usually a 90, but has been a Colas 47, GBRf 73 or 92 on occasions recently) and then running round and coupling up to take it back to Polmadie.

You'd also most likely have the Highlander electric loco stabled in the bay too.

Strictly speaking it hasn't for many years the Fort William sleeper was detached from the Inverness sleeper southof Glasgow.
True, but the question was about where passengers from the Fort Bill portion transfer to, and the answer is the Aberdeen portion seats. The fact that the whole train is 1M16 from Inverness south of Edinburgh and 1S25 northbound to Inverness is irrelevant.

Passengers travelling south changing from Ft William to the Aberdeen seats are encouraged to do so as quickly as possible and not hang around the platforms filming and taking photos.

1, they get in the way of the staff trying to do their jobs.

2, doors must now be closed and locked for shunting to take place so everyone should be boarded asap so the moves can take place. Last thing the crew want is people on the platforms filming and photographing as its hard enough to get a right time departure without having to chase up stragglers because they wanted a photo.

Northbound its slightly different as theres more time but nobody can alight for Edinburgh as its not a booked stop.

Northbound, as a transferring seated passenger, you're always going to be able to wait until a few minutes before departure to get on to the Fort William portion because of its status as a regular day service.

Also, not all passengers are idiots or inconsiderate of people doing their job. It's perfectly possible to film from a sensible distance, not get your camera in anyone's face and not to stray far enough from the train that staff get the impression that you are likely to hold things up.

Does anyone know why this 73 was parked at the Inverlochy Oil Depot?

For clarity, the picture was taken on Saturday night and when I was in the station today, no loco was on the front of the 6 coach sleeper rake.

In tidying up a few other posts on here, the answer given by someone to this has been lost - which was along the lines of this is where the locos now get refuelled by a road tanker.

It's 73967 btw if you weren't able to ID it at the time.

Any word on when the 73s are back on the Inverness portion?

I've no info, other than 73969, which the DB 67 is the "courtesy loco" for is still in Loughborough, so presumably it'll be the 67 for a while yet.

I understand that 73969 is getting fitted with the Dellner for testing with the new stock - presumably they're doing that at the same time. Not sure at which point the repairs are officially done and it's then just the modifications and hence the 67 is no longer required to be loaned...?

...and/or if this 73 (or another) is going off to Velim for testing they may keep the 67 on hire whilst they don't have the full compliment of 73s.

73971 is also in Loughborough currently, so they're 2 of the 6 73/9s short at the moment.

Now I wonder if thats the loco with the RETB issues. Could just be stabled there for some other reason though.

It's 968 with the retb issues, it will return once they are solved. The 73's stable there during the day so they can be fueled. Doing well now these wee locos

Missed the reply above clearing up the reason why they stable there, oops sorry

1S25 had 92 issues at Newcastle

Presumably fixed fairly promptly as "only" 25 Late leaving Newcastle (and Inverness portion departed Waverley 12L and is now on time; other two portions left on time)?

At the London end, appears 92014 which took 1M11 Lowlander down from Glasgow has run round at Wembley and taken the train into Euston, rather than the usual approach when there's an ECML divert of attaching another loco at Wembley on the south-end for the drag back (92010/032 were on the Euston-Wembley duties last night).

Yes it ran round due to unforeseen circumstances.

May be a "funny" with the data, but also looks like the ECS move (5M11) pulled out of Euston, stopped for c.25 mins, then went back in to Euston (P1)??

Loco for 5M11 failed, presume shunt released the one on the blocks. Shows as 92032.

5M11 finally on its way back to Wembley 147L. The CS-liveried 92 (92010 I think) which was attached to the south end of the Highlander (1M16) for the drag-back from Wembley to Euston was detached and moved from P15 blocks to P1 to 'rescue' 5M11. Failed 92032 was DIT behind the CS 92. 92014 (which brought 1M11 'up' from Glasgow) was on the rear.

So seems like the 'false start' was 92032 failing having originally departed on time with 5M11 and presumably 92014 had to drag it back into P1 rather than it blocking a key route (Line X) in/out of Euston?

92032 has not been behaving very well recently... only just back in use after some time at Willesden following a couple of failures on the China Clays.

Time for some Wabtec TLC methinks! ;)

What is the issue? Presumably not the voltage issue as it didn't get that far...

It's a 92 and an unmodified one at that, so could've been one of many things which went wrong - probably resulting in the over-zealous safety-systems kicking in and the "computer saying no" to "protect the locomotive".

Monday morning. Like the rest of us it didn't want to get up after the weekend!

Probably took umbrage at being dragged out on Sunday night for the unglamorous task of lugging the train to Wembley and then being abandoned there.

92 on 1M11 needed reset a few times last night as did the 92 on 1S25, they don't like the ECML for some reason.

I'm not aware of them having any issues the last few Sunday/BH Monday nights on the ECML (although that's not to say there weren't any)?

Interestingly the locos were 92033 (on 1S25) and 92014 (1M11) - both "modified" and both generally well-behaved. Whereas on 1M16 it was "unmodified" 92038 (assuming that didn't need any resets).

You'd have to think it's the leading candidate for the next one in to Loughborough for overhaul/mods.

They'd probably want to get 92043 out of there first, though (and poss 028 if that's ever going to escape!) - bit thin on the ground for AC traction at the moment as 92023 has been at Willesden for last 3+ weeks for some reason and 86101 went to Barrow Hill last week for repairs.

Certainly still a DB Schenker 67 up front on the Inverness portion last night. 67 013 again. Managed to get a slightly less dodgy pic of her this time at Kirkcaldy. 73 966 again heading up 1B16. Both portions about 3 to 4 minutes down.

Looks like they've gone for something more reliable on Wembley-Euston ECS duties this evening; 44 year-old 87002 doing the honours on 5S96 (ECS for Down Lowlander 1S26).

In the interests of balance, 92038 worked the 1S25 Down Highlander ECS earlier in the evening no problem and is likely to take 1S26 North to Glasgow later).
