Todays 6S94 was operated by 92032 on front with 66740 tucked inside for insurance. Don't know what's happened with 92044.

It's at Dollands Moor - will have brought the tanks through the tunnel last night with 032 - needs 2x 92 due to its weight.

The 66 then will have replaced 044 and lead to Wembley, where the locos are switched for 92032 to lead for the WCML, then 032 comes off at Carlisle and the 66 completes the journey away from the wires.

So the 66 is there for a bit more than insurance (although it provides that too on the WCML stretch!)

A little surprised it's 032 though.

Appears 92032 had no major issues on the China Clays yesterday - all ran to time pretty much.

Meanwhile 92028 is cracking on with test runs - still with 66703 for company/insurance. Went to Willesden and back yesterday (gave latest F/Liner on hire loco 90042 a lift from Crewe) and went to Carlisle and back today. Looks like it'll be doing Carlisle and back tomorrow too.

Some good photos of it on Flickr from the past couple of days (and my not-so-good photos )

92023 last worked a service on night of 20th April, then spent a month in Willesden before being moved to Crewe last week (and possibly on to Loughborough). Not sure why. 023 had a couple of failures prior to that too, plus a return visit to Brush a couple of months back.
92023 is back at Brush again for yet more rectification work. I think it went in as 92028 came out. TOPS shows 023 as at Crewe, but it is definitely at Loughborough - seen today in the yard there.

Thanks for confirming that. I was pretty sure it had gone to Loughborough that Friday as I could see with my own eyes the following day it wasn't in the Crewe Holding Siding where it had been on the Wed/Thu after it came up from Willesden... despite what TOPS said!

I'm pretty sure last time it went in it took about a week or so for TOPS to finally catch up with it.

2 of the 3 movements that day to move the take 023 in and 028 out didn't seem to get picked up for some reason. Maybe they don't want to admit it's in again?! ;)

Must be getting near to the time they'll need to start fitting the new couplings too.

Just noticed two VSTP workings - one from Crewe HS to Longport then another from Longport to Bardon Hill via a stop at Brush. Returning 92028 maybe??

Well, the only GBRf bit of kit that I know is at Longport is 59003; they may well be bringing a 92 in the consist to drop off at L'boro' while simultaneously picking up 59003 from Longport.

From what I can make out, 66776 picked up 92028 this morning from Crewe Holding Sidings c.10.30am - then went on to Longport [0Z92] to collect 59003 (which has been there getting it's engine fixed I believe).

The consist (66776/92028/59003) is now on the move [0Z59] to Loughborough Brush (going via Stafford and Lichfield - different to the booked route for the working which was via Stoke, but back on the original route at Stenson Junction).

There's a drop-off at Brush scheduled, with the working then ending up at Bardon Hill (I'm guessing this is just for the 66*).

Piecing a few things together, but appears 92028 is going in - hopefully just for some tweaks after its first week of tests. 59003 might be going there too, although might be just hitching a ride to Bardon Hill.

*The 66 of course may bring something else out with it. Possibly 92023 as that went in on 19th - so if it was a quick job it might be ready. Or 92043 as that went in early March so should be due out soon. That said, with the path going to Bardon Hill rather than back to Crewe and only c.30 mins scheduled at Loughborough Brush, might be just coming away empty handed.

EDIT: For confirmed/updated info - please see post below

Various photos have now appeared on Flickr, showing that 59003 lead the convoy from Longport, only 92028 was dropped off at Loughborough Brush and no locos were collected.

Here's a couple of examples...

On way to Brush (all three locos, 59003 leading) courtesy Timothy Rowley: https://flic.kr/p/V4U7xf

Just leaving Brush (92028 dropped off and no other loco collected) courtesy Simon Parker: https://flic.kr/p/U2UCns

This means three of the operational GBRf 92s are now in Loughborough (92023/028/043).

So in goes 92028... I say we never see it again. Clearly it works, judging by the times I've seen it on Railcam this time I'm surprised it's gone back in. God knows why, maybe they don't trust it - and who can blame them?

I think that's highly unlikely, unless you can enlighten us further?

I personally think it'll be out in a couple of weeks. It's had a week's testing having not run for 2 years and after major overhaul/modifications. I would suspect after that the GBRf crew have identified a few 'snags' that need a tighten up and a tweak here and there. I'm sure I read somewhere the "sleeper modifications" alone involve well over 100 components being replaced/renovated - I doubt every last bit is perfect first time out. Quite a few of the CS-liveried 92s went back in for follow-up visits after their main "modifications" (from memory at least 3 of the 5 modified so far).

I saw it from a few feet away flying past me on both Thursday and Friday and to the untrained eye it seemed in fine fettle.

Ran Crewe-Stafford and Warrington-Crewe on Tues without much bother, ran from Crewe to Willesden and back to deliver 90042 there on Wed, ran to Carlisle and back on both Thu and Fri without any apparent major issues. That's over a thousand miles. Doesn't strike me as a loco that has terminal issues.

I'd also expect they would have known what caused its failures in Spring 2015 and those would have been the first things on the list to fix/replace.

Aside from all that, GBRf really need this one to be working, and with the other 6 stored GBRf 92s apparently a long way from being serviceable (or probably past it in the case of a couple) I'd think one that's been running up and down the WCML last week is a better bet than one that's in the yard at Loughborough robbed of many parts!

He can't. He's posting utter nonsense yet again. I amazed people are still taking the time to respond to him, tbh!

It is indeed - saw it this morning (with 66705 DIT) looking mighty fine in the Cheshire sunshine... and on time!! (well 4 Late, but that's "on time" as far as the China Clays go!) :D:D

92044 will have assisted through the tunnel due to the train's weight (then most likely headed back to Calais to collect the latest Class 700 delivery).

STP paths have gone in for tomorrow afternoon which could (hopefully) be for one (or more?!) of the Class 92s currently in Loughborough to come out.

There's a working from Bardon Hill to Loughborough Brush (likely to be the assisting 66), then a working from Brush to Crewe Basford Hall, via a stop off at Crewe Holding Sidings (usual place the 92s are put after visits to Loughborough ahead of WCML testing).

0Z53 1300 Bardon Hill GBRf to Loughborough Brush (a.14:48): http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/R01420/2017/06/09/advanced

0Z54 15:37 Loughborough Brush to Crewe Basford Hall (a. Crewe Holding Sidings 18:49): http://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/R01421/2017/06/09/advanced

Candidates are:
92043 - went in for major overhaul/mods in first week of March
92023 - went in for repairs(?) on 19 May
92028 - went in for further work on 30 May after initial week of WCML testing following its major overhaul/mods

[...or doesn't happen/not a 92...!]

Could feasibly be any one (or more) of them.

Place your bets now...

Could it be a swap with 044 (yet to be modified)?

Very unlikely to be. 92044 came up from Dollands Moor to Willesden TMD this afternoon (a pretty routine move when it's not down at the tunnel) and there's no sign of any paths that would get it from there to Loughborough.

Moreover, 92044 is in active use at the moment working the China Clay tanks through the tunnel (with 92032) and the Class 700 deliveries. With three 92s (out of ten operational) in Loughborough, GBRf are a bit tight on 92s at the moment (e.g. a 66 is working the Dagenham-Garston cars, whereas they usually prefer a 92 on that).

I expect they'll want one or two out of the works first - and tested then back on revenue-earning work (which takes a week or two assuming all is well) before they send any more in.

92044 also tends to be pretty reliable, so there may be others with a more chequered recent history nearer the front of the queue for being next in (e.g. 92032).

I don't know how separate the engineers etc. working on them are, but there's also two of the Sleeper 73/9s in Brush at the moment and a third en route it appears, which is making options a bit limited on the North of Edinburgh portions, so GBRf may want these prioritised (if there's common resources working on both 92s and 73s).

just seen 92032 in wembley yard with the china clay empties and a unidentified cs 92 shunting sleeper stock at stonebridge park ,87002 was also shunting sleeper stock in wembley yard and a grey liveried 92 was outside willesden tmd which i assume must be 92044.

The 73s have seen a lot of action on the ECML this week. At least 2 southbound (sunday and wednesday) and one northbound on monday this week alone

Yep, 92044 is the grey one.

The CS one would be either 92010 or 014. The Highlander ECS headed back to Wembley this morning c.9.30am with most probably 010 on the front (North) end and 014 on the rear.

I think 032 will take the empties on to Dollands Moor this evening.

The Sunday/Monday one was 73970 ferrying two 37s from/to Derby after the Far Northern Explorer tour (and then returning to Edinburgh). Think it also popped into Loughborough on its travels.

Wednesday's was 73967 heading down to Loughborough for attention, joining the seven GBRf 92s that are there...

See how I made that just about relevant to a 92 thread there ;)

A 92 on Third Rail from the comfort of your own home (I'm guessing) - nice! :D

Yeah, there used to be more of them though. DB seem to have given up on them for now so aside from light engine movements this is the only working I get to see!

Paths are now in for Mon-Fri next week for 92023 / 92028 test runs.

They're down as Crewe-Rugby-Carnforth-Crewe, although the other week when 92028 was on test they never actually used that (full) route and instead did a variety of runs up and down the WCML included to Willesden and to Carlisle (x2).

As they've both been in for a couple of weeks for presumably fairly minor fixes, there may not be all that much testing required (especially for 92023 as that has been in regular service) - so may not be too long before they're back on revenue earning work.
