Preserved railways are not part of the national network, they are a tourist attraction and/or working museum. BTP would have just as much justification policing them as they would do policing Beamish, Alton Towers or a National Trust property.
I’d disagree. As has been discussed earlier in the thread, the definition of their jurisdiction by way of statute gives them primacy on any railway which “form a track which either is of a gauge of at least 350 millimetres or crosses a carriageway (whether or not on the same level), but does not include a tramway”. Whether this is reality or not may differ.

Many heritage railways offer priv rates to TOC rail staff.
Do BTP staff also get these priv heritage railway rates?

Many railways give the same discount to "blue light" card holders ie all Police Forces. I suspect its left to the discreation of the ticket seller in alot of cases Id certainly give it if asked with a warrant card.

I wasn't aware of that. Just checked SVR, they offer on the day discounts for blue light card and also for National Trust/English Heritage/Caravan and Motorhome members.
