If it's practical for train drivers, why is it 'not very practical' for lorry drivers?
Just needs a change of attitude in the industry.
Sadly such changes only ever seem to be bought about in the wake of catastrophic accidents.
Its practical for train drivers because of the amount of people applying, the TOCs need to reduce the numbers. I am old enough to remember when to become a driver you just asked for a job and got one.
It costs a driver about £3000 to get his license who would pay extra for these tests there is a shortage of drivers already, it's not like the railway where there is only about 12 companies in haulage there are 1000s and they will not pay for anything
