Apologies if I'm repeating other threads, I have agoraphobia and this is my first time trying a long(er) journey alone so want to check I've understood everything correctly before I set off

I'm travelling from Hull - Bramhall this month on an Off-Peak Return. The journey I'm aiming for on the outward trip consists of 2 trains: Hull - Manchester Piccadilly - Bramhall

Have I understood the terms correctly in that I can get off the first train, spend a few hours in Manchester and then board my second train later that day?

Thank you :)

It may help you to know that there are ticket checks at Manchester Piccadilly between each platform and the concourse (either automatic ticket gates or manual checks by staff). Although there is also a footbridge for interchanges, I expect lots of interchanging passengers do so via the concourse, and therefore the staff will be used to seeing people pass them all the time while interchanging or breaking their journey.

Only trouble I can see is that SOME Northern gateline staff seem to incorrectly think all Off Peak tickets have evening restrictions, though it's probably less likely them making that error with a long distance one like that.

If the journey is on a weekend then obviously this is not applicable at all.

See posts below - you are unlikely to pass a Northern operated gateline

@chloeychloeyx. Most TPE arrivals direct from Hull get into Manchester Piccadilly on platform 1. Majority of departures onward from Manchester Piccadilly to Bramhall will be Northern stoppers from platform 4 bound for Stoke-on-Trent. Enjoy your visit to Manchester!

That's good, that means entry would be via the TPE/Avanti common gateline and not the Northern manual checks, which means the confusion about evening restrictions will not arise, the gateline will simply accept the ticket.
