Which misses out on the unusual track around Bristol & Tytherington so for many whom will be booking on the tour it is irrelevant.

It is what it is really. I prefer to be on a tour that just keeps moving rather than being dumped in some random location for hours and hours. I usually just spend that time twiddling my thumbs in a coffee shop, especially as I tend to do railtours alone.
And it is quite clear in the itinerary that this is the case so everyone who wants to do Tytherington will know what sacrifice they need to make to get to it

Thanks for the interest in this tour...its certainly selling very well so please dont delay if you wish to join us. Although this may have been late to go on sale, this was due to a number of operational reasons, we actually gave this Save The Date 6 months ago confirming it was a DCR charter operation. Then earlier this year we confirmed it would be a North West or Midlands starter which for most people gave an opportunity to book refundable hotels based on normal charter starting locations. In addition, for anyone not wanting to start and finish the day in London, they have the option to start further South with plenty of Pick Up and Set Down locations available. In addition, we have breaks available at Westbury, Bath (longer break) and Bristol, so plenty of time to stretch those legs. Thanks again, and book soon!
But it would have been nice just to say it would start at derby so peeps could sort out accommodation and transport too, we didn't need anything else, destination start time, traction or routing. Please bear this in mind going forward

Unfortunately thats not something we do with our Save The Dates, but please keep an eye on the website for all the relevant dates and detailed spec's once available.

It was the late Peter Eizens who I believe was the first person to use the 'secret society' phrase to describe the BLS. Certainly one of the hobby's characters!
That could depends on where you get off.
Boarding at Bath, you still get the four freight engines, and the main attraction (for enthusiasts) of the freight installation, albeit only for a relatively short distance. You also get the rest of the day for doing something other than riding on the railtour.
Clearly you miss out on the mammoth positioning move from and to Derby.
…Which you are still paying for. I am sure there are very good reasons for not doing part fares - but I get annoyed when people try to tell me how I should be arranging ticketing for (non railway) events I’m involved with so I’ll shut up! Their “helpful” suggestions have a tendency to come to nothing when I offer them the opportunity to take over and run it their way!

We are pleased to confirm that the much sought after 56049 will be running alongside a DCRail 56 on The Tytherington Quarrier on the 12th July, operating from the Bristol area back to Derby. A huge thanks to Colas Rail for supporting this fixture.

I doubt it, 96 is scruffy and not really the right image for DCR/Cappagh.
I saw on Facebook a tour to Oban announced this morning in September with D213 and another somewhere else sorry the details disappeared but on locomotive Services Facebook post. Hope l'm correct in this don't shoot the messager!

Looks like LSL might have jumped the gun in announcing these. They remain as save the dates on the SRPS website
LSL are working with SRPS now. SRPS continue to plan, sell & operate their own tours but they are making use of LSL staff, traction & rolling stock

My fault l read it wrong thinking was a BLS tour and posted on wrong thread. It was early Saturday and had late shift Friday!Well yeah that was sort of my point

That may well be the case, before it failed twice last week and had to return to Toton that is
Arh fair enough, didn't realise it was a bit wonky, I suppose another consideration is getting two with working multi, I don't suppose it gets much use in n day to day traffic not much needs that much tractive effort. I think in the last 30 odd years I haven't had a pair much more than five?? Times
