As we know, Pendos can divert off WCML at Goldbourne jct to run via Chat Moss to Manchester, but are they cleared for the Euxton/Bolton/Salford line ?

Aside from that, they are gauge cleared that way and have been diverted in years gone by (and I think there have been Preston<>Longsight ECS moves dragged by 57s)

OK Obviously I did mean is it planned to have Euxton to Manchester via Bolton cleared for 390 Pendelinos in the future ?
I seem to remember the route was used years ago by Virgins Voyagers on Glasgow to Manchester services ?

It looks as if the first public service electric train to Blackpool North (BPN) will be 1N82 leaving Lime St at 08:32 and Preston at 09:32 this coming Sunday, 20th May.

Does anyone know:

1. is there an earlier electric service arrival at BPN?
2. is it really going to be electric?
3. Is there anyone close to the ground who can confirm or otherwise nearer the time? I'd be megamiffed to traipse to Wigan NW and buy tickets only for a 156 to roll in.

4. There is an earlier electric departure from BPN - 1F04 to Lime Street leaving at 07:55 - but I can't see how it gets to BPN in the first place.

And it's probably too soon to confirm if it actually will be electric until confirmation of ORR sign-off

Its a planned diversionary route and they are considering extending a couple of services per day to Bolton the way they did initially with Blackpool Voyagers though not finalised.

I agree that it is too early to tell if the Lime St arrival will be electric, hence my request for industry info.

On Monday night I could see trains in the carriage sidings, but I have no idea if they were doing more than just standing there for first services on Tuesday morning.

Perhaps when the ORR issues a certificate that allows for electric passenger trains to run? We are assured, though, that this will be THIS WEEK provided nothing showed up to prevent such on last night's runs.

I can confirm that class 390 tilt locked and 221 tilt locked cases were both considered at the design stage, and Bolton platform 5 is deliberately long enough for an 11-car (I can't remember if P3 is but is must be close).

I recall you telling me last year that Bolton's Platform 3 can take a double 221 or nine car 390 with all doors able to open. Part of an 11 car 390 would hang over though.
