According to this source, 'Black Friday' in Welsh translates to "Silly Spending Friday". Enough said!

Welsh Government (= Twitter user name) said:
Did you know #BlackFriday in Welsh is “Dydd Gwener y Gwario Gwirion” – this literally translates to “Silly Spending Friday”

P.S. Back in the day, wasn't 'Black Friday' the codename used by the UK emergency services when many folk went out boozing on the Friday before the Christmas holiday break? Maybe not quite what the OP was asking.

Have they ever done it before? Thought it was mainly electrical goods. Personally I can’t stand that day and never purchase anything on it.
You forget, the world is a crazy place now, even extends to East Anglia.

What would be a sensible Black Friday promotion be for the passenger railway in Britain?

I've spoken to the DfT, they suggest "buy twice, travel once". o_O

First Potteries had half-price annual tickets a few years back.
