Still, I can't see much harm in being a neighbour of Mr Pollock. Probably a very nice man, who has values and cares for the community (especially the wellbeing of others). I may of course be wrong - we know very little about either person - but I think the odds are on my side if I had to take a bet.

There are way too many persons like Mr Main as there is, to advocate more people like him is almost abhorrent, having an opinion is one thing, attempting to excuse Mr Mains behaviour when he abused a colleague doing his job and the general behaviour of himself is almost offensive to persons like myself who have to deal with persons behaving like Mr main on a regular basis!

You put your point so very well and there are very many on this forum, rail-staff and passengers alike, who feel exactly the same way that you do.

There are two types of posters on this (and the previous) thread. One has dealings with the likes of Mr Main on a regular basis, and are quite pleased to see one of the foul-mouth scrotes getting his commuppence

The other type seem to feel that nothing justifies any reaction to these individuals.

Now I realise that "The son-of-a-bitch had it coming to him" is not a recognised defence in law (although many wished it was), and any physical response has to be justified.

The fact that the Scottish authorities, after investigating this incident, watching the videos, and interviewing Mr Main, Mr Pollock, the Train Conductor and presumably others who were present, feel that no crime was committed, should be enough to convince the most indignant of Mr Pollocks critics that his actions were not illegal or unjustified.

If Mr Main feels that he suffered damages from Mr Pollock or Scotrail, he has got the right to proceed with a civil case through the courts. If he chooses not to, I think that should be an indication of how (in the cold light of day and sober) he views the episode.
