Yes I expect so, I guess you can return at the weekend.

16 weeks Monday - Friday in a hotel either in Crewe or Polmadie.
Someone posted a few pages ago about living in London and having to do the course in Scotland.

I'm not sure how else they could be expected to deliver the training at a consistently high level whilst also maintaining efficiency?

True, I think they also have their main training equipment there for example the simulators etc. Its only four months classroom based training there and then I think its practical at your chosen depot?

You're rostered 9-4pm Monday to Friday, which makes up your contractual 35 hours in the week. You might not necessarily finish at 4pm every day and most likely will finish earlier than 4pm on Friday so can travel back to London earlier.

If you're London based, you'll get paid for travelling time up to Crewe/Polmadie on the Sunday. Imho, Crewe is the better option as it's only 2 hours travel compared to Polmadie which can be 5.5 hours.

The Friday-Sunday travelling can take some getting used to, but defo a worthwhile sacrifice for a job of a lifetime.

Same! Crewe would be easier for me as I'm in Manchester but I'd love to stay in Glasgow for a few months. Easy for me though as I don't have kids and my partner would probably enjoy the peace and quiet for a few days a week.

The initial training course is around 16 weeks and the majority will we be either at Crewe or Polmadie and should mainly be Mon-Fri.

Does anybody know how to get in contact with Avanti careers.
I applied on the 28th February for wolverhampton, and have nothing back apart from confirmation of my application. I think I may have slipped through the net or been the victim of some technical issue.
I’ve called phone numbers on the website yet no one seems to have any idea.

For anybody wondering, when you are completing your classroom based training you will be put up in a hotel just outside of Crewe at their expense. Avanti lay on a shuttle bus either end of the day. It'll likely be the Wychwood Park Golf Club & Hotel and your room rate includes breakfast and dinner (which you can either have at the restaurant or expense at up to £30 a day)
Lunch is provided at the Talent Academy.

It's Monday to Friday, and you'll be put up in a hotel checking in on Sunday and checking out on Friday.
Your initial core rules will probably be 12 weeks and you'll return at certain stages during training for sim work and other bits.

Far as TOCs are concerned I am 99% sure AWC are the only one who still do it. It's a bit stupid but I can sort of see why.
Far as FOCs are concerned, I'm not sure which do the MMI and which, if any, do the CBI.

Just reading through the posts, which have been very helpful. I had the email saying I’d passed the CBI on 7/6/23 and that Avanti would be in touch. As yet I ve heard nothing. Is this normal ? Cheers

They are processing an enormous amount of applications mate. Hang tight for a couple more months at least before contacting them. They're a good bunch at Avanti and you won't get lost in a pile.

They don't have a depot in Chester but the nearest one to there is Liverpool

They are processing an enormous amount of applications mate. Hang tight for a couple more months at least before contacting them. They're a good bunch at Avanti and you won't get lost in a pile.

Even Crewe doesn’t have one yet. Only Holyhead and Liverpool are the closest

Just a heads up for everyone waiting for a DMI but I’ve noticed that Avanti are looking to hire more driver managers for a few of their depots (Euston being one of them) and also a HR administrator/s.

So they are trying to get things moving by the looks of it.

This is just a quick question, I am currently waiting to sit my stage 2 which I have been doing since 26th May. I was just wondering if I could apply to any other TOC as a trainee driver whilst I wait to hear from Avanti or is that not advisable. Thanks.

Hi,

Avanti does CBI, a majority of other tocs, focs do MMI. If you apply to other tocs who do mmi then your cbi will be overwritten unfortunately but not for those who do cbi which are few.
