Yes. I spoke with a Glasgow Avanti Train Manager and she did confirm their internal applicants been already notified several weeks ago about their passing with digital interview. Just a complete theatre really. 95 percent of the time they just give the job for their internal applicants especially the TM role. Very frustrating and don't find it a very fair recruitment process.
Definitely not , you work towards something to be completely out of your hands is frustrating

My neighbour, who is not internal, and has no railway experience whatsoever, has received an email to say he is through to the next stage.

Assuming the whole thing is a fix just because you didn’t get through sounds a bit like sour grapes to be honest.

We have years of railway experience, so we are understandably upset for a reason. Thanks for your comment, by the way — extremely helpful.

I also know from reliable sources that, the majority of the time, internal applicants are the ones who end up receiving job offers. So I don’t think the process is very transparent or fair.

On top of that, being kept waiting for over five weeks only to receive an automatic generic email saying, “You have not been progressed to the next stage,” is a pretty poor experience overall.

I

Just received the email. I didn't pass the digital interview. Has any of you been successful? I heard the internal candidates had been already notified weeks earlier about their passing... Looks like it will be again internal hiring mainly as I expected.
Yeah guys the same unfortunately, if that’s the case it’s externally focused it’s a real shame, loosing out on real talent

I’ve been advised that I’ve been successful in getting into the talent pool for TM at Manchester Piccadilly. Does anyone know how long roughly you’re waiting in the pool before being sent a formal offer?

There's no time frame I'm afraid apart from remaining in the pool for 2 years.

It will all depend on when vacancies arise and where you sit in queue.

My OH was in the talent bank for a year and a half.
