That's interesting.
Thank you for posting those.
Although I'd be interested in knowing what possible passenger demand there could be at Tal Y Cafn at 5.45am!

No real changes down the Marches then according to that, good stuff :)

Glad I read this too, as I'd forgotten about that new station at Energlyn!

The train used to carry post & News a few years ago,its putting Tal Y Cafn on the timetable, suppose one passenger to Betwys Y Coed from Tal Y Cafn would increase the paid for service from nil to one on this train. Some one has asked for the stop, probably local hotel.

ATW have made a very good decision getting the 1702 Carmarthen - Manchester Piccadily service to call @ Pyle would help take some pressure off the 1710 Swansea - Chester service.

Piy this couldnt have been done years ago since it would have made it easier for me to commute home when I have finished university.

Once again the promise of extra weekday service to Pontyclun appears to have gone overlooked......

I am surprised ATW have bothered re-timed the 01:48 Fishguard Harbour to Cardiff. It seems to appear on NRES with regular monotomy as a bus. Might as well show it as a bus for the whole timetable.

It does run occasionally, I've seen it! I've been on it too, though the most recent occasion was four years ago.

In days of yore I caught it regularly from Llanelli to get back to Swansea after a night out. In those days, there was another regular passenger who got off as I got on. From the looks of him, he was a doorman returning home by train!

I notice that the 1530 Manchester to Cardiff and beyond now only runs as far as Camarthen, as opposed to Pembroke Dock.

Any reason for this?

Since December due fuelling restraints. Would put it over capacity since 3 Car and the alterations to enable this.

All Blaenau services have to stop at Tal Y Cafn for operational reasons at the level crossing, they may as well show it as a public stop ,this train is usually empty stock all the way to Blaenau, this is unlikely to change.

Pleased to note ATW have listened to us about timetable one,and put heavily used Birmingham/Chester line in the front of the paper timetable instead of in the middle which confused many passengers.
As of today 8th May the web version as not been published

My Father and I once stayed at the Portsmouth Arms hotel, located next to the station of the same name on the Exeter to Barnstaple line. Owner said he had been trying for a while to get FGW to make Portsmouth Arms a request stop that more trains call at. It is funny that all trains are timed to call there by request on a Sunday but less trains on Mondays to Saturdays.

The new timetable that kicks in on 18th May provides for the following to call at Portsmouth Arms:

Mondays to Fridays:
0700 BNP - SJP
1813 BNP - EXM
2055 EXC - BNP
0612 & 1725 EXM - BNP

Saturdays:
0708 & 1813 BNP - EXM
0612 & 1725 EXM - BNP
2052 EXC - BNP
2218 BNP - EXC

Sundays:
0843 EXD - BNP + 1159, 1404, 1559 & 1956 EXC - BNP
1000, 1324, 1523 & 1720 BNP - EXC + 2130 BNP - EXD

IMO the owner of that hotel has a point. If you have persons staying there who want a day in Exeter without the hassle of parking then they have to get either the earlier train or find a means of getting on another station but there are no buses past the hotel.

All Conwy Valley services also have to stop at North Llanwrst for operational reasons, but this is not a passenger stop on the early train. This is a shame really, purely because I quite like North Llanwrst station :P

I noticed that Northern have pulled the 0722 Newton Le Willows to Man Vic. This means those who used the 0649 Helsby to Picc service and changed at NLW for Man Vic can no longer do this.
