It does get used everyone know and again for route learning etc. I did manage to get a shot of it at Bridgend sitting in platform 1A.
I certainly wouldnt mind it being used on longer services perhaps a service on the cityline on a sunday would be good however I doubt they will be able to get permission to use it on the mainline.
It has been out the majority of the time I have been out and about, hopefully I may be able to see it as I pass under the cardiff bay branch on my train to Bristol on friday morning If I can log on here I will make a post.
If it is fitted with TPWS and other safety systems why can't it go elsewhere?
It may very well be fitted with TPWS but surely you know about the burocracy on the network these days. Authorisation has to be obtained involving DaFT and ORR and you know how long that takes. There would have to be case for selected routes. If it is fitted with TPWS and other safety systems why can't it go elsewhere? Having said that I saw a thread elsewhere on this site about bubbles running singly in BR days until they had to be coupled to something after a few incidents.
I see it as gurning rather than smiling myself![]()

As it is classed as a heritage set, special conditions have to be imposed which allow it to work over only a specified route. and this entails strict conditions That is the reason. The question of ATW owning, route and traction knowledge are irrelevant. Heritage sets van not be used anywhere only over a specified route. Why does authority have to be obtained? If ATW own or lease the unit and it runs in a path of one of it's services what difference does it make if it is formed of a 121, 142, 143, 150 or anything else.
Provided the crew have the relevant traction and route knowledge what does it matter what stock is used. Surely "grandfather rights" or the like mean if the stock operated a route previously (i.e. In BR days) provided there are no major infrastructure changes on a route there would be no problem?!
Therefore what is stopping a ATW 121 going to Swansea for example?
It's okay saying beaurocracy or authority needed but why?....more detail needed.

It appears that you still refuse to understand even when more than one of us are trying to tell you. Rules are Rules and neither you nor any other member can change them.Yet the various charter rakes of Mk1 & Mk2 coaches can go virtually anywhere as can Main line certified preserved Steam & diesel loco's............
Still don't see why it should be restricted.
:-x
Mainline registered mark 1 rakes have to have a mark 2 carriage at each end, not mark 3s.Because they have a locomotive on each end or a Mk3 on one and a locomotive on the other to act as barrier coaches, so if some runaway 66 decided to **** into it, it hits the loco or Mk3, not the Mk1s.

As work progresses, improvements will be made at Oxford removing this conflict. Would this permit a bubble to run from Aylesbury to Oxford carrying passengers?
she's away again tonight. 150/2 instead which is unusual, normally pacer or 153

Probably no 153 available to replace at short noticeBit of a waste of a 2-car unit! Then again they must have a few spare. (Out of 31 & loaning to FGW, NXEA & Northern)

Arriva actually have 36 150s in total. Only one is on hire now and that is 150280
213 and 280 (the latter currently on hire to NXEA)I've only counted 34; 208, 217, 227, 229, 230, 231, 235, 236, 237, 240, 241, 242, 245, 250, 251, 252, 253, 254, 255, 256, 257, 258, 259, 260, 262, 264, 267, 278, 279, 281, 282, 283, 284, 285. What have I missed?
