I'm familiar with Southern services going from London Victoria to Horsham, then the front portion detaching and going fast down the Arun Valley, whilst the rear portion calls all/almost all stations to Bognor Regis. I'm sure there are many other examples of trains dividing enroute (such as the Caledonian Sleeper).
However are there any examples where a passenger train starts its journey at Station A, picks up an attachment en-route at Station B, followed by a detachment at Station C, then completing it's journey at Station D?
