Ashburton v2 is an Excellent route but I must say Shambles of a presentation Has caused Problem after Problem.
I was glad to see this appear ( I love Little Branch Lines That recapture the pre Beeching Days) but was disappointed to find that with out a word of warning it overwrote my Original Ashburton Route for which I had several (even though I say it myself) excellent acts in the making using Cambrian coast stock.
I should also say that the installer did not give me the option to install to a directory of my choice If this is an option I always install to a temp folder on my desktop or in my documents then Manually Copy & paste in the relevant folder with in my MSTS installation.
Why the overwriting of previous version was not covered at the start of the Read Me File amazes me, as usually this is the first warning given on updated routes let them be Downloaded or UKTS CD/DVDs .
Then I tried to run the first of the 5 included actives to find all the consists missing but this was fixed with in 24Hrs by way of an additional download , Then it was discovered that the way the route was named ,was incorrect & yesterday a further patch was uploaded WITHOUT ANY INSTRUCTIONS or READ ME Files on how to apply it.
I think I have a rough idea what to do but am still not 100% certain ,I feel for the beginner trying to get this route up & running.
A little bit of forethought on the part of the author would have avoided these problems & I always feel that inadequate read me file is the same as including no read me file at all & the latest patch that was the case. not one line of instructions or contact details for the author .
While I only upload Activities I always try to provide as detailed information as possible & include at least 2 or 3 different ways of Contact ( inc. my VOIP Phone No.) should you need support .
To me this is on a Par with people who upload activities with out stock lists & does nobody's train simming experience any-good.( and anyone who knows me, knows how much this gets my goat infact I urged for years that activities without stock lists should be rejected without a second thought)
I hope this is taken as what it is intended constructive criticism & not a pop at Reg(refman)Furniss's work which is second to none for quality & detail, But I feel her "that Ship has Been Spoilt for Hap-pith of Tar"
