Great to see new stock coming in here. Just out of curiousity does anyone know why Arriva specify the shorter E400MMC’s? Where as the E200MMC’s are the longer 11.5/8m models?

I know the short length is usual in London but with so many operators going for the longer E400MMC’s these days with extra capacity, it does seem unusual. There can’t be much difference cost wise.
I think that largely service bus operators favour the shorter versions of deckers to give a bit more routing flexibility whereas the people who buy the longer version are normally focussing on schools & private hires where the extra seating capacity is a major advantage (two school classes plus teachers/adult helpers on a private hire which probably hits 80 passengers). Except in a few specialist circumstances decker seating capacity is less of a pressure so a shorter bus that can cover more routes if needed is seen as a plus but single-deck seating capacity is often an issue so you go for the biggest suitable - I think also Arriva are often replacing full size single-deckers with their E200s so go for the longest length whilst other operators sourcing for different types of routes favour shorter options.

In the case of Arriva Yorkshire it's shorter e200s being replaced by longer e200mmcs. The e200mmcs new ones have 8 more capacity than the e200s they are replacing

Am I right once the remaining hybrids in Yorkshire are withdrawn that the only vehicles in the Eco livery will be Merseysides hybrids?

Were these B5s withdrawn due to the 75 plate MMCs or is something else on the way? Only asking as Arriva have pointed to new buses across 2025 and 2026 on their website.
I believe all the new buses have arrived (at least for now). The plan is to remove the B5LHs, classic E200s and Pulsar 1s.

Plans have been announced to build a new bus depot at Newton Bar in Wakefield replacing the current Arriva Yorkshire Belle Isle premises

This will of course open post franchising so will be owned by the combined authority.

Unusual for a modern depot, to be close to a town/city centre than out of town

Surely this should be under the 'West Yorkshire Bus Franchising' thread?

Just realised Arriva Yorkshire is the only division in Arriva to never ever receive streetlites.

It seems that many of the recently delivered vehicles run services into Leeds, E400-MMCs from Wakefield and E200-MMCs from Castleford.

Yes. E400MMCS at Wakefield, primarily seen on 110/444/446 and the E200MMCs 140/141/163/164/165 and on an evening 168. Rarely they make it to Wakefield

I’ve recently been in Yorkshire to finish off the YJ62 batch of Pulsar 2s which ones are at Castleford if any or are the Pontefract routes run by Wakefield? Only so my personal list is correct.
