I've noticed an increase on E400mmcs on the 415, with 1961, 1967 and 1968 all operating the route according to Bustimes.org. Is Selby expecting more E400mmcs in the near future and where will the Gemini 2s that they're displacing go? Also, how long is 2578 staying on for? I believe its one of the few Commanders left at Arriva Yorkshire, its been operating 496s so far today.

1968, all the above fleet numbers are E400mmcs operating on 415 today. 2578 on 496s.

E400MMCs and Gemini 2s are swapping, with the Geminis going to Cas and some of the E400MMCs going to Selby.

Castleford are responsible for Selby's maintenance anyway, so its very common to see Selby buses at Cas, and Cas buses at Selby. But the e400mmcs and Gemini swaps have been confirmed by a Selby driver.

Arriva have a vehicle shortage at the moment, with quite a few buses off the road, Pulsar 1443 and one or two B7RLE's are sat at the back of Wakefield depot, don't know what will happen to them. Pulsars 1475 and 1445 I've been told the engines have gone on them! 1475, had a new engine early last year. 1444 is back in service now, but the engine went on that one as well! I don't know where pulsar 1428 has gone though either.

With West Yorkshire looking like Franchising being the option to go to, I can't see Arriva doing anything or investing, as what's the point of investing in something that might not be there's in a few years.

Unless the 4 remaining commanders have a major failure, I imagine, they will keep going as long as they can.

I believe the vehicle swapping is due to a Clean Air Zone in York City Centre.

Talking of other Selby based vehicles some of Evolutions seem a bit poor at the minute with some including 0665 the front bumper looks rather loose.

Those evolutions has always been poor, the maintenance standards when they was at Tiger was shocking to say the least.

I thought the geminis was euro 6 as I'm sure they got converted back in 2019

They certainly were allocated funding to retrofit the Geminis for Euro VI – and given that in normal service each vehicle visits York at least half a dozen times they have needed to be Euro VI compliant since January 2022, I agree it isn't tenable that the swaps are because of the York CAZ. More likely they realise that the Geminis are looking and feeling tired and showing their age, and it's better to have decent buses on the depot's flagship route and move the Geminis to less high-profile routes where they won't spend so much time running at speed.

Most likely it is either tracking on the spare Castleford machine along with another double decker or its tracking as MMC 1950 as that bus is tracking for 2 different buses, 1950 and another UID one. Or it could be tracking as e200 1065, as that is also showing being on 2 different routes at the sametime.

Arriva Yorkshire Commander 1403 sat at the back of the depot with a NFS in the screen.

That's 3 left now, 2578, 1409 and 1414

I'm only seeing MMCs on 415 today but it is only half-hourly today with it being bank holiday so we shall see tomorrow if some Geminis are used to provide 4x hourly service.

Could we see E200mmcs on the 42 into York in that case?

When Transdev briefly ran the 42, they got a pair of 8.9m E200MMCs but still had to get them recertified for a lower standing capacity in order to meet the weight restrictions on Cawood Bridge. So it is possible, but takes a bit of doing. The 10 year old E200s they're running now are absolutely fine for the route so I would expect them to stay until they're at the end of their useful life, there's no need for Arriva to replace them sooner.

1956 has indeed gone to Castleford and has been operating services between Castleford and Leeds since last Friday. As I thought, 1528 is the only Gemini on 415 to provide that 15 minute frequency.

1414 hasn't been out for a week, could this be the end for another Commander at Arriva Yorkshire?

Bus Times showing that 2578 is the only Commander left at Arriva Yorkshire? 1414 has a line drawn through it, has it been scrapped?

1414 and 1409 have been withdrawn from the fleet. Replaced by a E200 from the North East in 1049. More e200s due to follow soon.

2578 is the last commander remaining.

Do you know how long 2578 has left?
Sorry I don't. But there is a swap of Pulsars between Wakefield and Castleford at the moment for fleet standardisation. The 62 plate Pulsars from Wakey have gone to Cas and the 58 plate Pulsar 1s that Cas have got, have gone to Wakefield. But also a Pulsar 2 has gone from Cas to Wakefield, which I didn't expect, if Pulsar 1444 goes to Wakey from Cas as well, that could see the end of commander 2578.

I was thinking more about if Arriva will switch to MMCs due to the Clean Air Zone in York?

5 Enviro 400s are on loan to Arriva Yorkshire from a Liverpool depot

4681/82/84/89/91 are the ones rumoured to have gone to Wakefield Depot. I don't know if any drivers have gone on loan either

The source posted by a Wakefield driver at Wakefield depot in Arriva North West Facebook group.

The Enviro 400s are on loan from Speke Depot and only four 4681/82/84/91 are involved. Buses will be swapped back to Speke as required.
Speke has a reduced requirement during school/university holidays.

Largely some minor changes to avoid Road congestion but there are some good changes. Good to see extra evening and morning services on some routes. Really like the extra morning services on the 42 between Cawood and Selby, will benefit a lot of people commuting early into Selby from Cawood.

Excellent news regarding the extra 141 evening trips

I’ve never understood however why they generally run it as a single decker whilst other much shorter services such as the 156 are almost always a double decker!

Bustimes is showing that 2578 (Arriva Yorkshire's last Commander) hasn't been out since 4 July. Is this the end of the road for 2578 or is it in for maintenance?

Although there is not so good news in Selby with the end of service 5, reduction in frequency to Abbots Road and on service 8.

Apparently it is parked up in Castleford Depot according to a private Facebook group. I have requested to join it to see proof.

So glad I made a long journey from Luton to Wakefield to get on it on 3 July, looks like it might have got withdrawn the day after.

Just reading through the Arriva Yorkshire service changes for September and found some cracking snide remarks:
Major changes are made to the timetable. Service 254 will extend from Brighouse to Huddersfield, whilst service 255 will gain additional trips to Scholes.

Service 254 will extend from Brighouse to Huddersfield. After serving Brighouse Bus Station, we will run direct to Huddersfield via A641 passing Brighouse Sainsbury's, Brighouse Railway Station, Huddersfield ASDA, and Huddersfield Railway Station before reaching Huddersfield Bus Station. We will depart from Stand P at Huddersfield Bus Station, and call at stop S4 at Huddersfield Railway Station, before heading back up A641 direct to Brighouse passing Huddersfield ASDA, Brighouse Railway Station and Brighouse Sainsbury's before reaching Brighouse Bus Station and continuing along the existing route to Leeds.

The extended route has been designed to partially replace service 260 by offering a quicker and more frequent service between Cleckheaton and Huddersfield. In Huddersfield, it offers public transport users more choice throughout the ongoing railway upgrade works. It also offers residents of North Huddersfield with services to Leeds, which were lost when service X6 was withdrawn by another bus operator several years ago. Additionally, there has recently been a significant reduction in the number of trips offered by another bus operator between Brighouse and Huddersfield, as well as their introduction of “AI timetables” which has led to large gaps between trips along this corridor. For all these reasons, we are hopeful that this extended service will be a welcome addition to the bus network in the area.

Service 255 will gain additional trips to Scholes, following customer feedback. This reinstates the level of service on this route to that which we operated before the pandemic.
You must be doing a bad job at something when even Arriva comes out to criticise you. Brought me so much joy just reading it, I thought I had to share with the forum.

There are also some other changes at Arriva Yorkshire. Including a new service between Wakefield and Leeds University.
We will be launching new express service X10 between Wakefield, Leeds City Square and University of Leeds. There will be 5 trips towards Leeds in the AM peak, and 5 trips from Leeds in the PM peak. Buses will use the A650, M1 and M621, offering a quicker route to the West of Leeds City Centre compared to service 110.
Fantastic news for students in Wakefield who study at Leeds University.
Service 261 continues to serve Dalton and Kirkheaton, with the last trip departing later from Huddersfield at 2015 (currently 1845).

• Service 271 will be split into two routes. Service 271 will continue to run between Batley and Heckmondwike, and new service 272 will operate between Heckmondwike and Cleckheaton.

• Lots of timetables are changed to reflect the latest traffic volumes, helping to improve our punctuality.
Great to see a later last service on the 261 as well.

Buses between Brighouse and Huddersfield run by “another operator” are mostly every 18 minutes but with varying gaps, the biggest I can see in the daytime is 21 minutes

They were every 10 minutes before COVID gradually dropping to 12, 15 and then the current AI version of 15 which like I say is actually 18ish

This is the madness of AI timetables / control by accountants etc!

I have commented on the First thread about the 579. This is a tricky service as a round trip, with layovers, is about 66 minutes. Therefore whatever the frequency it doesn't quite work, every 20 minutes needs four buses with 14 minutes "wasted" etc. Stagecoach would simply interwork this with another route at Halifax and it would work at whatever frequency they decided. First say we have 3 vehicles available so it will run every 22 minutes - slightly less frequently as the round trip time gets longer.

The 363 Huddersfield to Bradford though is simply self inflicted. Here the round trip time is essentially 2 hours. So 12 buses gets you every 10 minutes, 10 buses every12 minutes, 8 buses every 15 minutes, 6 buses every 20 minutes. But someone in their infinite wisdom has allowed First 7 buses. So it runs roughly 7 times every 2 hours, ie 17-18 minutes. It looks like an extra bus in the evening peak improves it slightly. Frankly 6 buses every 20 minutes would be better. No wonder Arriva have spotted an opportunity here - good luck to them.

On the AI timetables I keep starting to post on the First Potteries thread about their new 38/39s but the red mist comes down...
