No - that's the legal lettering. The operation is managed locally.

It might be managed locally but the operations or commercial directors are based in Chelmsford .These are the people who make decisions.Local managers are just figure heads who cant do anything without permission.

Doesn't Arriva Stevenage had 2 garages in the town??

Yes they do have two depot Babbage Road and Norton Green Road. They are looking for new premises Norton Green i think the owner wants the land back as it is right in town .

Not correct. The Managing Director for Potteries is actually based in Leicester.

Babbage Road was originally Jubilee Coaches site which became Sovereign's depot.

IIRC Norton Green Road was bought by Luton & District when they bought out part of the Sovereign Stevenage Bus operation.

It's not 'right in town' - it's in the industrial area, to the west of the railway line and south of Six Hills Way - if it was to be redeveloped it would be for office space, not retail.

Sorry to dig up and oldish thread, but while driving today I saw a 17-reg bus in the new livery on the 321 route. Does this mean Luton's got some new vehicles, and have any of the others been transferred over to Stevenage?

Many of the (now) Arriva Midlands depots (including Luton, Aylesbury etc) have received new E20D buses recently. It's unlikely to affect Stevenage as that is now within a different Arriva area.

Ah okay - couldn't find anything online but just discovered from the Arriva Luton facebook page they arrived on the 3rd of August, so much more recent than I realised!

I just wondered if Stevenage would get any cascades based on the previous issues with an ageing fleet, but obviously there's no direct reason for that to happen in a different area, thanks.

I saw some new buses with white displays in Stevenage a couple of weeks ago. Forget what route number it was though.

Most likely one of the refurbed Saphire VDL's than anything new.

There is an influx of newer Kent based vehicles though, still with Kent branding.

Similarly I've seen an Arriva Southend branded single decker in Hemel Hempstead a couple of times this week.

Seems to be a bit of a mishmash going on at the moment - 3 of the last 4 321s I've seen have been operated by one of the new fleet

Uno now operate in bedford/Milton Keynes, Northampton and I believe also oxford.

The service in Oxford isn't for the public - only for university employees, or of the various companies on Harwell Campus. Minibuses go back and forth pretty frequently on two routes, one just within Oxford, and the other between Oxford down the A34 to Harwell.

It appears some further fleet movements have happened with some ex Hertford 310 Volvo B7's appearing on the 300/1. I've seen 3878 with branding removed and another unidentified still with route 310 branding.

Just to add to the random route branding mis-mashes in the area last night I saw a 321 (Watford - Luton) branded Citaro on the 50 (Aylesbury - Halton Camp). Still at least that's reasonably close compared to the Kent branded Streetlites running in Stevenage.

It's a bit odd, again the last 2 321s I saw were operated by the new fleet. I assumed it was because of a shortage of branded vehicles, although that doesn't appear to be the case.
