318S passes to Coatham Coaches after the Easter Holidays. 96 looks to be standalone from looking at the new timetable, given the last trip from Lealholmside to Whitby arrives back too late to do an afternoon school service in Whitby.

Maybe it's just me, but does no one proofread these timetables? It's Stainsacre, Muncaster Way one direction, and Ruswarp, Muncaster Way the other!

Not to mention the Eskdale estate goes from one bus per hour to three per day - or a walk to the A171 for the X93.

This will, of course, cut Whitby town services yet further, to just the 95 hourly, the 96 three times per day, and the P1/P2 in the summer. Oh, and the Town Tour, which provides a better local service than anything else has done in some time...

That looks like a system generated timetable (similar look to Derbyshire's timetables). It could be that the locality boundary runs between the two stops, so the system would be correctly assigning the locality according to what is in the national stop database.

Rather oddly these appear to be stops on a loop and the bus calls at both, but is timetabled differently on the outbound and return (even though it is the same bus!).

For instance, according to the timetable, the 96 leaves Whitby bus station at 1010 and makes its first call on the Eskdale estate at 1017, then it calls at the second stop (Stainsacre Muncaster Way) at 1017, and the third stop (Ruswarp Muncaster Way - final stop on the run) at 1018.

The return journey commences at that second stop at 1018, then the third stop is also timetabled for 1018, before the Eskdale School stop at 1019 (and returning to the bus station via Helredale Road and Church Street).

Also the order of stops on the estate seems to have changed - I suppose they could travel via Larpool Lane so they come in from the west, but I'm not sure what the benefit of that would be!

Certainly it's a bit of a mess overall and doesn't inspire much confidence, but you never know - hopefully these are teething issues that get worked out.

It can't be more of a mess than what Arriva produce ... this is their latest offering for the X93/X94, which has reached new heights of incompetence even by their own atrocious standards ... the times highlighted in red show one journey from Middlesbrough to Scarborough. It's like this all the way through. Unless you are intimately familiar with the service and very perseverant, there's no way you're going to make head nor tail of it.

In fairness, you can't just ignore the X4 and X93/X94, I'm struggling to see where doesn't have a service in Whitby or the local area. Ripon has a town service, as well as buses to York, Leeds, Harrogate, Knaresborough and Thirsk. Wouldn't say non-existent in terms of buses.

Correct (and being a pedant, they’re city services). Other than the 36, Ripon has no substantial services. The RS1 is perhaps the best but it’s a low bar.

Sadly a standard failure of Arriva’s auto-generated timetables, always happens on these split reg services, the X15/X18 have produced equally (if not worse) results than this over the years, hopefully a more friendly to read offering will appear at some stage, sadly North Yorkshire Council have also uploaded this version of the X93/X94 timetable.

Arriva will take over service 16 in Darlington from Stagecoach from 29 June:

We are pleased to announce that we have won a contract from Tees Valley Combined Authority (currently operated by Stagecoach). The service 16 in Darlington will be operated by Arriva from 29th June 2025.

This service will run Monday to Saturday connecting people between Mowden and Harrowgate Hill (off- peak) with additional peak hour extensions to Faverdale and West Park. The 16 service will connect people across Darlington

Arriva will be boosting the X18 between Alnwick and Berwick from 21 July for the Summer Holidays, with two additional journeys along that section of the route:

From 21st July and for the 6 weeks of the summer holidays, we will be providing an additional two return journeys between Alnwick and Berwick on Monday to Fridays, making it easier to reach the North Northumberland Coastline.

The additional journeys will depart from Alnwick at 1005 and 1410, returning from Berwick at 1205 and 1620.

Their will be no other changes to the service.

Arriva has received the first 4 MCV Evoras for the X4/X4A service between Middlesbrough and Whitby via Loftus. They have fleet numbers 4502, 4505, 4506 and 4509, all of which have entered service. 4508 is now also in service on the X4/X4A. 4504 has entered service today on the X4. 4503 also in service now on the X4. 4507 now in service on the X4 today.

Arriva has published some service changes for their Northumberland and Tyne & Wear services from the end of this month:

We will be making changes to a number of services from Sunday 31st August 2025. These changes come following a sustainability review to our network and contract changes from both Northumberland County Council and Nexus.

Service 43 – Newcastle to Cramlington and Morpeth
We will be making some slight changes to this service to improve punctuality and changes to school contracts we operate within the area.

The current AM/PM school day journeys that terminate at Cramlington Manor Walks will now extend to Bedlington Front Street. The afternoon school day journey commencing from Cramlington will now start at Bedlington at 1546.

Service 44 – Newcastle to Dinnington
A revised timetable will be introduced at peak times on a Monday to Friday to improve punctuality.

Following a sustainability review, the current Monday to Friday 1453 journey from Dinnington to Newcastle will now operate on school holidays only. Additionally, the last departure from Newcastle at 2335 will extend beyond Dinnington through to Wideopen, replacing the 0003 journey on service 45.

Service 45 – Newcastle to Dinnington
A revised timetable will be introduced at peak times on a Monday to Friday to improve punctuality.

Following a sustainability review, the current 0535 departure from Newcastle, will commence from Regent Centre at 0545. The 0805 departure from Newcastle will operate school holidays only, with a new journey departing Wideopen towards Dinnington at 0828 on school days. The daily 0003 journey from Dinnington to Regent Centre will be withdrawn and partially replaced by an extended journey on service 44.

Service 392 – Marden Estate to Benton Park View DSS
A revised timetable will be introduced to improve punctuality.

New Service 448 – Guide Post to Bedlington Station
Arriva will now be the operator for this school day only service following a change of contracts by Northumberland County Council.

Timetable will be unchanged and can be viewed here.

Following changes to Nexus school services, Arriva will no longer operate this service.

Arriva has announced service changes to their Tyne & Wear, and Northumberland services from 2 November:

Arriva will be making changes to a number of services from Sunday 2nd November 2025. These changes are being introduced following ongoing reviews into the punctuality and reliability of our network, adjustments due to the end of the Summer 2025 season, and in response to specific requests from Northumberland County Council.

New timetables are now available online and we encourage all customers to check before travelling.

Service 434 – Widdrington Station to Ashington and Bedlington Station
The frequency will be reduced to every two hours. This change is in line with a decision made by Northumberland County Council. The timetable will remain structured to meet the needs of school children travelling to and from Bedlington Station, and a revised timetable will be introduced across the route to improve overall punctuality.

Service 777 – Morpeth to Newcastle Airport and Kingston Park
We will be making some slight adjustments to timetables throughout the day to maintain connections with other services in Morpeth.

A new timetable will be introduced following a punctuality review. Most daytime journeys towards Newcastle will now run up to ten minutes later. Additionally, due to a reduction in winter opening hours at Cragside, the number of journeys serving the main Cragside site will also be reduced during the winter season.

A revised timetable is to be introduced. Most daytime services heading towards Newcastle will now depart up to ten minutes later than previously scheduled. Furthermore, the current morning journey between Berwick and Alnwick will now continue through to Morpeth and Newcastle to offer better onward travel connections.

Slight adjustments will be made to journey times, with most buses towards Newcastle departing up to ten minutes later. In response to feedback from Northumberland County Council, the current Saturday-only journeys between Wooler and Kelso will now be extended to Morpeth. The early evening journey from Kelso has been scheduled to arrive in Morpeth in time to allow connections with other services continuing to Newcastle.

From the 2nd November will see the withdrawal of the additional Saturday summer journeys between Alnwick and Berwick, as the 2025 summer season has now ended. After a review of the timetable, most journeys through the middle of the day towards Newcastle will now run approximately ten minutes later. A new weekday morning journey from Amble to Newcastle will also be introduced, improving local connections and providing additional travel options for morning commuters.

Despite their slightly rugged design (and their earlier propensity to catch fire), they've been good servants to Redcar depot. I rarely travel on buses for a specific type (save to experience perhaps some new type like when the electrics have appeared) but I did make the effort to have a last trip on some Temsas in August when seeing the family.

Arriva has launched a consultation regarding the X22:

Back in July 2023, changes were made to bus services X21/X22 following reductions in local authority funding. Since then, we’ve received valuable feedback from our passengers -particularly concerns about the loss of direct links to Newton Aycliffe and Darlington from Peterlee, Sedgefield, and surrounding areas.

We know how important reliable transport connections are for work, education, and everyday travel. That’s why we’re revisiting these changes -and we’d like to hear your views on the best option going forward.

We’re considering two options for Service X22;

Maintain the service as it currently is, with links to Stockton and North Tees Hospital or
Revise the service to connect to Newton Aycliffe and Darlington instead

As mentioned in the Arriva Midlands thread, Temsa Avenue 4718 is now at Telford depot.

Elsewhere, Pulsar 2 1530 has been removed. Pulsar 2 1482 is over at Arriva Northumbria, as are ADL400MMCs 7578, 7579 and 7580. Pulsar 2 1389 is also at Arriva Northumbria. Optare Solo SR 3052 has been repainted and moved to Arriva Northumbria. Citaro Training Bus T08 NE has moved from Arriva North West to Arriva North East. Pulsar 2 1415 has transferred from Arriva Northumbria to Stockton depot and Northumbria's Gemini 2 1500 has been repainted from 'Arriva Max' to 'Arriva Journey Mark.'
