As expected 3920 has confirmed to have been written off this morning by a member of staff. Not surprised as it only had days left on the road

I don't think anyone expected an 18 year old bus that has just suffered a substantial engine fire to be anything other than a write off to be honest.

You never know with Arriva could be fixed with more scrap parts and be put back on the road for a few more years

Yeah, actually, that's not a bad point.

Probably without a full repaint either, just the back end!

After all, Leicester's 4765 caught fire and then got fixed up and returned to service... only to apparently get written off after a collision some months later!

Thanks for clarifying about the roads in Baddesley.

Yeah, I have only been on the 6 once (in Nuneaton) and I was the only one on the bus. Hope Tamworth gets some new single deckers as part of this order
4412 is on the 6 at the moment to Nuneaton will be interesting to see what parts get skipped

Would they actually need to skip any of the route though?
I was told by a member of staff that when the route changed they couldn’t use double deckers due to the baddesly part of the route which had narrow roads with parked cars Both sides (it’s happened before where that driver have had to knock on doors to get cars moved) plus a steep hill with tight bends and low hanging trees which is difficult to navigate in a single decker. I drive a small 7.5 tonne truck that way home and sometimes struggle so I feel bad for the drivers

Narrow roads and parked cars have the same impact on a double decker as they do on a single decker...

Trees I understand.

According to bustimes, it looks like none of the route was skipped. It would be nice to see deckers regularly on the 6, however I’m not sure if there is enough usage of the route to justify it.

I’d sighted two Optare Versas heading down the M54 from Shrewsbury this morning couldn’t catch fleet numbers but imagine they are transferring to Tamworth.

Yj09mku is the latest versa to arrive at Tamworth along with presumably another one tracking on the spare ticket machine.

The other one is likely either 2980 or 2984, those haven’t tracked on Tamworth routes yet and haven’t been out for a number of days.

Most likely, the original plan was to have 2974 - 2987 move to Tamworth eventually. But plans keep being changed so we will see

What will be going to replace the old Optare Solo's at Shrewsbury considering some of them are older than the Versa's being replaced

What are the Versas for Tamworth replacing?

The Max citaros, E300s and E200s?

I can't keep up!

Well neither can I really but there’s talks of everything older that 58 plate not having a new mot which will explain why 3767 has been of the road with the mot expiring on Thursday and also there was talks that the 12 plate citaros would be slowly phased out due to higher maintenance costs and not being standard fleet. But I honestly not sure what’s next plans keep changing

It'll be a shame to loose the Citaros but I get why they would want them gone.

The Versas feel like a stopgap measure too, they aren't in the best of shape.

Have the E200s already left, haven't seem them for a while?

Depending on how many 11.8 mmc's telford get, i think most of their Pulsar's or some Streetlites? will move to Tamworth

Yes it would be a shame to see the citaros go as most of them are still decent excluding 3002 which has a gearbox fault and 3004 which has an engine fault. These two break down quite often and keep getting “repaired”. E200 gn10kwh has ran out of mot now for a couple of weeks so presumably it will be scrapped or moved and as for mx12cev I’m not to sure.
And yes some of the versas are in poor shape sometimes worse than what they replaced. I can’t imagine them lasting long to be honest.
