The group has now announced the very large investment over the next year or so (including a number of recent deliveries), but right at the bottom it confirms Tamworth is being electrified.

The deckers for Tamworth appear to be BYDs - there are 39 coming, and 28 of those are known to be for the North East, so it looks logical that the rest are for Tamworth.

Long overdue, but very good news!

Not sure what fleet number it was, but I caught one of Tamworth's newly received Versas yesterday, it sounded like it needed putting out of it's misery, shame Tamworth didn't receive a few extra Pulsars instead..

Shrewsbury didn't have any Pulsars allocated... just plenty of old Versas.

Would these replace E400s?
Yes they most likely would as the double deckers are used on the 110 and sometimes a couple of local routes. The 110 is supposed to have 10 busses at the moment with most of them being the e400 and the rest made up with euro 6 pulsars.

You might get some pulsars from telford when the MMC’s arrive later this year

Hopefully we will see one on the 6 at some point, however that would be quite unlikely

Some might even need painting. Some of the Derby ones look like they were last painted when they were new
Yes and apparently some of the interiors are in need of a refurb, I’ve known it with Arriva where the seats get a refurb but doesn’t get painted or vice versa, both should be refurbed together ideally.

More rebuild than refurbishment. Very tired.

I was told by a driver that when the route changed double deckers can no longer be used on the main part of route 6 due to tight roads and the hill in baddesley. Plus the 6 isn’t usually busy enough to warrant a double decker. They do sometimes use double deckers on the Tamworth part of the route though.

Thanks for clarifying about the roads in Baddesley.

Yeah, I have only been on the 6 once (in Nuneaton) and I was the only one on the bus. Hope Tamworth gets some new single deckers as part of this order

Tamworth’s 2155 (gn10kwh) has now run out of mot which means it will most likely be withdrawn and replaced with another versa.

I use the 6 quite frequently, as you say the problem is at the top of the hill in Baddesley Ensor. Very tight roads, plus very low trees when you turn right off the main road at the top. Been on a couple of early services where the driver has had to get out and knock on doors to get cars moved.

A good long beep of the horn usually gets them moving ;)

I went on 3920 last week and it was in a right state, most of the dashboard was missing and the brake pedal kept squeaking as well as mismatched seats of about 5 different types and a rather uncomfortable ride. The driver did say it only had a couple of weeks left on the road.

Looks like Arriva Derby Enviro 400 MMC started tracking on the 38 at 16.03 today. I saw it in service around 13.15.

All of the Max Citaros were total sheds, honestly I'm surprised it's took this long for something like this to happen.
